For a second there, I read that headline as "Heavily armed men arrest Trump at his golf club."

Absolutely phenomenal discussion of sports & gambling from @burnitalldownpod.com. Really shows you what a difference it makes to approach this topic from feminist perspectives. youtu.be/vooidgxp3c4?...

Kudos to whoever wrote this headline. Really does the job right.
The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.
The more I dig into the story of the categories of men's and women's skiing events, the more my mind is blown. Just so many elements in these sports challenge thinking about sex difference, and there's so much history of women fighting against the sexist common sense that's governed the sport.
Can't be the first to say this, but (and yay UEFA - brilliant) this works equally well if you swap out "football" for maybe "water" or "a stable climate". Look at me being the revolutionary socialist. "No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation."
As I explore organizing a collection of my writings, I find that I did some of my best work in the comments section for this 2011 piece, in which I make the surprisingly controversial argument that horses are not women. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Welcome to the international women’s soccer experience outside of the WC or Euros* *very few competitions let Opta (or a similar data analytics company) do real time updates and the worst part is that it’s gotten marginally better but it’s still bad

I lost track of a thread about sex segregation in sports, and how it's often enacted after women enter men's competitions & beat them. Who wrote that??
I'm sorry, please find me a year since its passage when these folks have not been coming for Title IX? I understand why we are seeing these headlines, but they minimize how the right has always both hated Title IX and seen in Title IX an opportunity to exploit the hatred of women.
The authors of Project 2025 are coming for Title IX.
Since A Second Sight came out I've received about 2-3 of these scam emails a week. They are not only profoundly annoying but obviously prey on author's passions and attachment to their work. In some cases they impersonate real people at legit organizations.

Super disingenuous framing by HuffPost. Look. I'm the king of calling Bernie and his Bernie Bros and the DSA Bros out on their anti-Black racism. This is not that. He was asking a *Black leftist*, how they address nonsense from *Black centrist* because as a white leftist, this is not his place.

It has been criminally underreported but Kelsey Pfendler has just rowed solo across the Pacific Ocean from the US coast to Hawaii in record time. A 2,400-mile unsupported journey in 43 days, 17 hours, and 55 minutes. Notably beating the Men’s record by 9 whole days.
Been having conversations w/ friends/family new to the sport about Egypt's disallowed goal. For the record: I would be shocked to learn of an explicit conspiracy, match-fix BUT ideology is a powerful thing, and it absolutely works to protect certain teams and players. (As all sports fans know.)
