This talk was great. A state bank in WA could bring many benefits - cost savings, reduced interest rates, the ability to invest public deposits toward shared goals, & return profits to the public purse. There is tremendous power in owning our own bank. Hope legislators find the courage to do it.

Plus the service is just better. I've banked with BECU for years and they are awesome. I'm sure other credit unions are good too, but when did you hear someone give a commercial bank an unsolicited plug?

Absolutely. If you're looking for a way to fight the fascists where it hurts, quit your bank and join a credit union. BECU has regular accounts, business accounts, mortgages, business loans, and everything else you need. Stop loaning your money to fascists. Move to a credit union.

People forget, but Occupy Seattle helped create a lot of awareness about predatory banking, spurring many Seattleites to transfer their banking to credit unions.
