When people can gather openly, participate in public life and stand up for what they believe in, democracy becomes stronger. Every Pride march is an expression of those freedoms in action. That's why Pride matters, not only for LGBTQI+ communities, but for democracy itself 👇

On 30 July 1960, the French National Assembly added homosexuality to its list of ‘fléaux sociaux’ (social plagues) that needed to be combated by the government. It amended a public health and reform bill to list homosexuality alongside prostitution and alcoholism as menaces to society.

Yesterday, at the CSD Berlin Pride - one of Germany's biggest Pride events, a murder occurred. A van hit the crowd, killing one person and injuring 16 others. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our thoughts are with those affected and their loved ones. We are grateful to all those that aid.
