I hereby declare Violet Bridgerton Our Lady of Comp Het.

Queer in many directions. Disabled. Reader. Embroidery, costumes, gluten free baking. Food motivated and anxious (both me and my dog).
The day the towers fell, my mother was having an emergency angioplasty, because nothing happens in isolation. Now she's living her best life, traveling and Dragon boating and volunteering and going to dance parties. The USA? Not so much.
Having a dynamic disability is wild. Some days I can't be in well-lit rooms with an appliance running, other days I can go out and do errands and make things. I can... Kind of? Predict my capacity based on the cumulative activities of previous days.
This is the first Labour Day I've been part of a union in about 15 years and I'm grateful. Being unionized in non-profit spaces is rare and definitely needed.
Remember the 8 hour work day was a compromise reached a century ago with those who wanted to work us to death. A reevaluation is long overdue. Happy Labor Day.
I'm very grateful that past me bought and froze some Fancy Deli meat for Future Hard Times because I'm trying to remember I stilldeserve nice things when Hard Times happen, not just when I hit arbitrary capitalist goal points.
Buy up every hot mutual's property in search of a successful polycule in the hit new board game: Monopolyamory!
If you truly believe that "AI is here and not going away", you should be pushing for either hard regulation of this thing or for UBI or something that can guarantee that everyone affected by it will still be able to survive.
It’s not “AI is inevitable, get on board or get left behind”… It’s “AI is here and not going away, we must chart a new path forward and stop pretending like this isn’t happening.”
Just finished @nghivo.bsky.social's A Long and Speaking Silence and I so treasure these stories and the stories they carry nested inside them. Highly recommend The Singing Hills Cycle (can be read in any order)
In case you can't say hi to the ocean, here she is.
I forgot to read a bunch of books of Robin Hood during surgery recovery. Will I do that this fall? IDK. Might still be organizing my craft supplies and occasionally doing a project then. Having about 50% Max of your previous functional time sucks.
Besides my surgery recovery and #LongCOVID I'm dealing with a side-effect of a medication I've been stable on for several years. I'm distracting myself by reading. Just finished a 2nd book in a trilogy that really had 2nd bookitis. Now I get to read a novella by a favorite author.
Oh shit it’s Support A T-Girl Friday All my games are on sale for September and October itch.io/s/199449/fal...
I want trying to feel proud of myself for interrupting this week's push/crash cycle but mostly I'm grumpy about not being able to do the things I want to do, instead of the endless medical appointments. #LongCOVID #MECFS #NEISVoid
This week might be the week the decision is made about whether my LTD is extended, or 1/3 of my income is cut off. Any good energy, prayers and spells accepted. #NEISVoid #LongCOVID #MECFS
My partner told me last night that Worldcon 2027 is in Montreal. I'm gonna encourage her to go, because conventions are outside my energy budget.
I reached my goal of organizing 2 of my 4 craft carts. I celebrated by purchasing supplies for and starting to make some silly hats. (Do not ask about my UFOs. I need some fucking whimsy.)
I am currently arguing with my dog about why he must eat his kibble, and not just a pile of liver treats, for breakfast. A year and a half ago I would have said dogs can't argue. So far he's turned his head, stared into the middle distance, pawed at me plaintively, and used his round eyes
We cannot trust companies to do the right thing.
Food companies wanted deregulation. Now there are dozens of recalls across the country. Mining companies wanted deregulation. Now the black lung rate is at a 45-year high. Financial companies wanted deregulation. Now financial losses to fraud are the highest on record. Noticing a pattern?
Second craft cart half-purged, partially organized. Reminding myself it's important to make time to paint just to make marks. But also having better organized supplies will help.
the lessons we need to take are clear. Dolly said "find out who you are and do it on purpose", and Tim Curry's line is "don't dream it, be it" they would both be disappointed if we wrote that off as corny. so what? it's necessary. we have everything to lose if we are dishonest to ourselves.
I know it’s hard to watch all these beautiful things be carried away by time and see the wrong things growing in their place. But listen. Listen. We have to be the beautiful things now. It has to be us. It has to be us. Courage.
Just finished @tjalexandernyc.bsky.social's delightful Second Chances in New Port Stephens and one of the things I enjoy most about their work is the effort they put into demonstrating WHY their MCs are connecting. Now how do I get them to write more? *Reader puppy dog eyes*
barbara findlay and now Dolly Parton. We've all gotta pull together to mend the holes those two have left in so many lives.
It's taken me 3 hours (most of that taking breaks) to purge and organize one of my 4 craft carts, but I'm feeling excited to have more time to sort through another one tomorrow.
Today, a friend in the USA has been trying to send me news links. (All about the consequences of lack of FDA for inspections.) Nothing is showing up in our chat. Not even notifications that the content isn't available in Canada.
Nothing like lying in a dark room, resting, and trying to absorb that #MECFS might have been the reason a community leader choose MAiD.
