Once again I am experiencing jealousy of people who gave some sort of cultural history or connection. What a strange thing to envy, maybe. Just feels weird to see traditions and stories and sayings passed down, and things to be part of, and to have none of my own.

The other day I brought home two stools from the store. One is tall and has a square seat, and one is shorter, longer, and is cushioned and has a nice fabric cover. I had barely put down everything else I was carrying when Cairo immediately identified them as pet stools and tested them out.
Okay so I'm pretty sure it's about Jesse Lazear, and it contains the following verse, "It wasn't a wizard with philters and charms, It wasn't a champion, a champion at arms, But a lean Army surgeon, soft-spoken and slight Who read the dark riddle and broke the dark night." He "solved" Yellow Fever.
I need someone DEEP into poetry or like, idk, disease history to please for the love of Pete help me identify and locate this poem about presumably Walter Reed or maybe Jesse (Jesse?) Lazear. I learned about this in school, found it on Google once a million years ago, and now cannot. I am DYING.

Got stabbed with a bunch of mystery rusty implements. Called the doc. Physician Assistant: last booster? Me: over a decade ago PA: and when did you first get stabbed? Me: Friday. But nothing seems infected, so im not sure if it's a big deal... PA, laughing: oh yeah it's a big deal, get the shot
Dear @mozilla.org, I tried to join the Thundermail wait list but it just keeps taking me to a blank page with no indication via email that I signed up for the list at all. I think my submissions are falling into a void of some kind. :/
After 24 hours of being home and sleeping for about 21 of them, I can say I'm ready to get back to bed. I will, as soon as I'm ready to stand up again. Currently on the balcony, listening to birds, and hoping the frogs will make an appearance since it has rained today. Please, frogs, I need this.

The good parts of the store moving, for me personally, involve the cool bric-a-brac I got, a fun adventure of being out in downtown overnight a couple times, seeing Dru at both his silliest and his most well-behaved, and getting a shock-start at being very active as heck. Now to keep that up
Oh glob I have just developed a cramp in the upper part of my leg where it joins my body and I don't know how I'm going to live, honestly.
Friends, I slept 8 hours without waking up even once to pee, and several seconds after I woke up, so did this tremendous soreness in my legs. Y'ALL! WHO INVENTED THIS AND WHYYYYY? I want to throttle them. My upper body is also sore af but I need my legs for walking!
The one good thing a landlord ever had going for them
More furniture store moving adventures! Our landlord's employees came by today (referred to in private company as Danzig and Hillbilly Electrician) and said the landlord actually isn't too concerned about us taking a couple extra days to clear out. Tomorrow should be the last day, though!
I have made it home and I'm probably not leaving again until Thursday. Ain't doing shit tomorrow aside from whatever I cannot avoid doing. Mainly, I am gonna rest, let myself live with whatever pain and discomfort im gonna feel, and chill. Well, and maybe get that tetanus shot. #cotastreetforever
Just realized the president is the crazed friend from the Flobots sone "Handlebars" He can guide a missile by satellite, he can hit a target through a telescope, and he can end the planet in a holocaust. Let's not forget he can hand out a million vaccinations or let us all die in exasperation.
eliko thalia is a genius Happy dos octubres, everybody! Happy dos octubres, eliko with the super-pretty name!

Just being a beverage goblin. Not pictured: the 15.2 Oz Ocean Spray cranberry juice in a bottle that got dusty from being by me in the back, where I was flinging sawdust. Thank goodness it hasn't been opened yet.
There is some droning machinery noise out here and I thought it was noise- and guitar-heavy metal music until I looked around to see who was playing that and ask what it's called. Musical Ear Syndrome strikes again. Usually it goes away once I notice it but I'm really tired so it's not today.
I am so emotionally labile right now. Not too terribly like on a warpath, but certainly all over the place. I just rolled my eyes at a parking sign because it was a pain to take down from the pole. I almost cried because @icallshogun.bsky.social brought coffee from home and it was perfect.

Wow somehow they managed to make a peaches cup taste bad. Sure it was on sale but still! Dole needs to stop playing and bring back peaches in syrup, not this cheap fruit just stuff with no flavor. Jeez
Using my free will to hang out at @cotastreetantiques.bsky.social again. Forgot dinner so I am cramming gas station food in my face right now. This time it's less (but still!) broken glass and more old rusty nails and wood splinters. I made sure to have gloves tonight. #cotastreetafterdark
I'm still tired af but I've got wind in my sails again
After a twenty-minute power nap and a microsleep while actively carrying panes of glass across the store, I had a burger and some fries and some soda and a lovely walk. I feel much better now and awake and alive. On my walk I ran into a local unhoused man I know and he regaled me with some really
Beekeepers on Insta: "Bees communicate through dance." *busting Tiktok-style dance moves in front of their hives* The bees, probably: "Wow, there must be some really great pollen in that direction."
Been feeling guilty since I took a nap at 4:37 without finishing the glass. Nobody is making me feel guilty, I'm just frustrated that I didn't get an much done as I could have. I mean I did a LOT during an autoimmune flare and needing a knee replacement. But I could totally have done more tho!
Starting a gofundme for breakfast at the local greasy spoon on the next block
How it's going finishing packing up at @cotastreetantiques.bsky.social, a thread. So far, the building doesn't seem haunted, though it does make old building noises. It's so quiet downtown that outside I can hear voices and have no idea where they're coming from. 1/?? ##cotastreetallnight
