Crypto and Perpetually Thisย Year

Crypto is starting to feel a lot like the Linux desktop: every year is "the year of <whatever>". And then it isn't the year of whatever, and we get to endure it all over again next year. And the year after that. It won't stop happening. But perhaps it's time to ask why this keeps occurring.

The #SlateTruck was announced today, and some online commentariat seems to be missing this product's purpose.

Who Is The Slate Truckย For?

Slate has launched the Slate Truck, a basic battery-electric pickup priced under US$20,000 post-rebates. Designed for commercial use, it features a single cab, minimal electronics, and modularity for converting to an SUV. Targeting tradespeople and service providers, it's not aimed for general consumer markets, emphasizing utility over luxury.

As Bluesky has grown, I've seen a lot of backsliding on alt text. Please try to be considerate to others and include alt text with all of your images. It helps everyone. Indeed, in the "accessibility" setting in Bluesky you can set it to make sure you add alt text, which is a useful thing to do.

In the trade war, #BuyCanadian can be trickier than you might think. And some traditionally American brands technically aren't anymore.

What Is A Productโ€™sย Nationality?

In the early stages of the present trade war, Canadian shoppers are trying to get a handle on what the "nationality" of a product is. In many cases, something that might seem American actually isn't. But only if you dig deep enough.
