Postdoc at the National Cave and Karst Research Institute, New Mexico Tech. Geyser researcher/appreciator/zealot and caver. Seldom poster, frequent lurker. My opinions do not represent my employer's.

Person who has worked in and generally spent a lot of time in Yellowstone here. While somebody used to reading bison body language would’ve tried to get out of that situation, the average visitor wouldn’t—and these folks were at a reasonable distance away.

A tourist was seriously injured after being thrown 8 feet into the air by a bull bison in Yellowstone National Park. Professional photographer Mike Macleod filmed the incident.

I've been doing sexual harassment and assault research and advocacy work since 2012. If there's one thing people need to understand is that everything, literally everything, is stacked against the victim. Every one who comes forward risks their reputation, identity, safety, and more. 1/2

As someone who's spent an inordinate amount of time in Yellowstone geyser basins... you absolutely cannot stop the public from touching algae if they want to touch it. 😂

Rebecca: "Chaps, Alexi left us" Zlatan: "Who? Rebecca: "Alexi will be back, Alexi will be back with us very soon" Thierry: "Your plan worked, Rebecca" Rebecca: "Don't you bring me into this, no chance" Zlatan: "America, you're welcome" lmaooooooooooooooooo

🧵 Public science in the US has taken some heavy hits over the last year, but the White House OMB is proposing a series of changes that will result in a TKO for science as we know it unless we fight back. Here's what's happening, and why it matters. 1/n

I have a friend who likes to go to the park to look at ducks and geese. At first I went to hang out with my friend, and now I think *I’m* becoming a person who wants to look at ducks and geese. Because look! At them!

Two adult geese swimming with six older goslings. Two goslings in the foreground have their necks outstretched and look intent on chomping some vegetation.
