Feeling a bit burnt to be honest but still making bits of progress 🟢 Knocked out more technical flashcards (100devs banki) 🟢 Walked on the treadmill for 1.42 miles despite it being hot and slightly muggy Job update emails: 1 role paused, 2nd job was a rejection

anki, bank and exercise done

Went hard today on practicing technical interview questions & improving my answers (100Dev's Banki). I had Claude assess my verbal answers. But I slacked on everything else 😅 Priority 1: fix sleep schedule 2: figure out workout system kinks 3. chatting more online 4. job apps

only did anki and bankiWhat is the purpose of module.exports in Node.js?
Explanation: module.exports is how a file in Node.js's CommonJS module system exposes specific values — functions, objects, classes, variables — so other files can use them. By default, everything defined in a file is private to that file; module.exports is the object you attach things to (or replace entirely) to make them public. Another file then pulls that code in using require(). This is what lets you split an application into separate, reusable files instead of writing everything in one giant file, and it's also how published npm packages expose their functionality to whoever installs them.
It's worth noting module.exports/require() is the CommonJS system, which is different from export/import, the newer ES Modules (ESM) syntax. They're two separate module systems with different syntax — not simply an old and new version of the same keyword — though Node supports both depending on project configuration.

Every file in Node automatDifference between setImmediate() vs setTimeout()?
Explanation: Both schedule a callback to run asynchronously, but they're tied to different phases of Node's event loop, and their relative order depends on context. setTimeout(fn, delay) callbacks run in the event loop's timers phase, after the specified delay has elapsed (even setTimeout(fn, 0) has a practical minimum delay, roughly 1ms). setImmediate(fn) callbacks run in the check phase, specifically designed to execute right after the current poll phase (I/O processing) completes in that same loop iteration.

This means: if both are called from inside an I/O callback (e.g., within a fs.readFile callback), setImmediate is guaranteed to always run before setTimeout(fn, 0), since the check phase for that cycle comes before the next iteration's timers phase. But if both are called from the top level of the main module, outside any I/O cycle, their relative order is not guaranteed — it can vary depending on system performance, since the

For my fellow socal techies (or tech-curious)! Our 3rd casual tech meetup will be on July 15th @ 6:30pm at Better Buzz Coffee in Menifee! Let's yap make some friends (or if you're allergic to friendship, you can use this as an excuse to escape the house and get coffee/tea 😛 )

If you're stressed and you know it clap your hands. Alright jokes aside, although nothing will magically fix whatever is making life suck, luckily feelings come in waves. So finding a way to ride the waves can give you some breathing room.

Always feels odd when you hear someone passed away, we all know tomorrows not guaranteed but still, damn. Try to take a moment and send some love to your loved ones & yourself. (I'm okay, he was a cool coworker but we weren't close. He was a huge tattoo guy, think he would of loved this tat)

I double dog dare you to listen to me talk about the free torcdotdev events this week while I get lovingly murdered by my playful cat 😉 If you're in tech, tech curious, or know someone in tech, torc has virtual events every week with lessons and tips for finding a job or upskilling

Shout out to Adrian a fellow 100dev and Torc community member for hanging out at the tech meetup @ Better Buzz Coffee! Had fun chatting about our journey to tech and 100 devs, our chunky pets, and turns out he's Danny Thompson's freelancing "twin"!

Ford has rehired hundreds of senior engineers after replacing them with AI backfired and has cost the company billions of dollars. AI adoption is blamed for Ford being the most recalled automaker in the U.S. with 51 recalls covering over 11 million vehicles in the first half of 2026 alone.

Started the day off strong with gym + banki (technical interview question practice) but after that it felt like my brain became the biggest toddler 🙃 Luckily tomorrow I'm chilling with friends which might be what it needs to decompress? Did some anki just not 30+ mins

Dailes 5 outreach messages, 2 reconnects, 1 leetcode/neetcode, anki 30+ mins, Banki 10+ mins, exercise 30+ mins, Meditation 15+ mins, 1 Job application. It has a light blue, white and orange color theme. To the right is a goose and to the very top right you see my goose profile icon with my various socials.

Huzzah! Successfully went to the gym even though my body was very "uuuggh" about it the whole time. Thus a short day. Knocked out some technical questions. (I do alright but def need to keep polishing my answers more) Gotta balance out the productivity withsome nap time!
