I think one of the things that sometimes obstructs our view of the ancient world is that we still use one of the words they used, but it's changed so much. We say "hero" and we usually mean the good guy, or at the very least someone trying to do good. When the hero comes to town, things get better.

I appreciate that Ed Markey rolls with a crew, but having them make tough faces at me as they walk towards me and the camera keeps jump-cutting in closer until their whole face fills the screen is unpleasant. He should film his friends with more flattering camera work.
