Alpha-gal syndrome is an IgE-mediated delayed hypersensitivity to galactose-α-1,3-galactose (alpha-gal), a carbohydrate found in mammalian meat but absent from human tissue. The condition is initiated by exposure to alpha-gal through tick bites. Learn more: https://nej.md/4wIygTh

Diagram illustrating the alpha-gal syndrome. Panel A shows the assay process with a test tube of blood, a test capsule, and molecular interactions involving cellulose in serum. Panel B depicts human acquisition and development of alpha-gal syndrome. The top section depicts sensitization pathways, highlighting cells from mammals, microbiomes, and other factors contributing to the syndrome. The bottom section shows symptom development with a person experiencing symptoms and indicating areas of pain or discomfort.

#LfDB in #ACGG-DB and #GlyCosmos provides quantitative lectin–glycan interaction data, including absolute affinity constants(Ka) measured by automated FAC-FD. With high-quality binding data and tools, LfDB is a valuable resource,w/ further FAC dataset expansion planned. #glycotime glycosmos.org/lfdb

GlyCosmos Portal

LfDB provides quantitative interaction data in terms of the affinity constants (Ka) of a series of lectins toward a panel of pyridylaminated (PA) glycans obtained by an automated frontal affinity chromatography with fluorescence detection (FAC-FD) system.

#GGDB (GlycoGene) in #ACGG-DB is a database focusing on glycogenes within #GlyCosmos and provides key information, including substrate specificity, on glycosyltransferases and sulfotransferases to support glycosylation/glycan biosynthesis analysis across species #glycotime glycosmos.org/ggdb

GlyCosmos Portal

GGDB is a database which includes genes associated with glycan synthesis such as glycosyltransferase, sugar nucleotide synthases, sugar-nucleotide transporters, and sulfotransferases.
