I'm sorry to sound so bitter and shitty about this but I'm just like. I'm despondent. This remake looks SO expensive. I can't imagine all the money, hours, blood, sweat and tears that went into it. Nintendo could have taken all those resources and unparalleled artistry and made a new game instead.
I don't want to be nostalgic anymore. I'm tired of being catered to. I don't want to forever hear the same artistic voices I heard in my youth, now amplified, slowed and reverbed for dramatic effect. I want new worlds. I want new stories. I want new voices. Please!
The painful thing is how those of us in the disability community predicted this outcome - both that ignoring COVID and taking no measures to restrict it's spread would lead to a massive increase in disability, and that those disabled would be blamed for their own conditions.

Young women don’t have to “prove” to you that they’re sick. Disability rates are skyrocketing because we’ve left a disabling virus rip through the population for over 6 years.

“this person is bad so their work was always bad” is also a really dangerous view to take because it leads to - unconscious or not - a bias towards “but I do like this other person’s work, ergo they must be a good person” which, as we have seen over and over, is simply not true
lott@lott24m.bsky.social · 2w agoWhat happens a lot on social media is when someone (Warren Ellis, Neil Gaiman now Ed Brubaker) has allegations thrown at them people tend to leap out the woodwork saying "their work was never good." That helps no one as it's irrelevant. What matters is their actions and what they did.
