underrated part of El-Sayed’s messaging strategy seems to be shaming journalists who ask dumb questions that play into right-wing frames. you can’t answer these in a way that satisfies them, but you can make it embarrassing enough that you impose a toll on asking.

The same people arguing Dems "have to" be transphobic to win elections are the same people who would have opposed the civil rights act and said Dems "have to" be racist to win elections: and now we rightfully say "wow those guys were fucking monsters" and guess how history will judge these guys?

Have you ever considered that maybe you got MAGA because you keep voting for candidates that won't meet basic minimum standards and govern like Republicans? Requiring that candidates not support genocide, transphobia, and racism against immigrants is the furthest thing from demanding perfection.

I think this is part of why Dems think they can treat trans people like shit and get away with it. The same way they treat queer and black issues like "yeah maybe we'll get to that someday" because they always assume "you have to vote for us, the GOP is worse"
