Here is the full suspension letter from UGent that was sent to Nathan Cofnas, it shows ample reason for his suspension and potential termination. Including breach of contract, using the University of Ghent’s name and legitimacy to promote his racial supremacist views and causing reputational damage.

Jake Lang got his ass whooped by a guy in a Spider-Man costume as soon as he rolled up. His whole time on scene was maybe two minutes. Lots of pepper spray in the air during those couple of minutes. Police have retreated into city hall for now.
You don't call a wildfire-devastated landscape "mainstream forest" just because a few trees are left standing.
Hate to break it to all the bots, but there is no longer such a thing as "mainstream media" in the US. There are some good journalists and editors approaching total burnout, a large ring of freelancers trying to hang on, and a larger group who are either unemployed or now in other professions.
Yup. California counties do not have infrastructure available to implement this either. bsky.app/profile/nopl...
Oregon hasn't had in person voting in almost 30 years. There is no way we could set up a system in barely a month (figuring in early voting).
It seems inevitable that the Supreme Court will rule to allow this at the very last second, throwing the election into total chaos in vote by mail states. they are trying to steal the country from us by cheating the election. Hope to be wrong!
I remember when many of us hypothesized this during the MOOC IP grab. It sounded insane. Now:
What are we even doing here? www.nytimes.com/2026/08/22/b...
The thing that sparked the 2022 tech layoffs and RTO push wasn't anything on balance sheets or payrolls, it was the twisted tech oligarchs sharing in their grouptexts those videos of 20-something women project managers working from the poolside as if it was a personal affront to them.
It’s worse than this. Having been in the room with many of them (long ago, before I knew they were psychopaths), the tycoons who are left running the industry have an active contempt for ordinary people, including their own workers. They actively want to oppress, control and punish them.
One explanation of the why pundits have gotten weird is that they spend too much time on X. I think an under appreciated additional reason is "I spent time with a billionaire, and they were nice to me."
at this point, every country targeted by trump's trade wars should be making decisions which cause the american consumer maximum visible pain between now and november
hooray, everything costs more, no one wins, everyone loses, just another day under an out-of-touch and out-of-control personalist regime overseen by a coward republican congress who sits on their hands
even if you somehow *could* get american voters behind a trade war against canada in isolation (and i don't think you could), trump's got 150 other trade wars and a real, live shooting war in iran going on that no one supports, there's just no political will for this beyond his own
On paper a trade war between the US and Canada should be much harder on the northern country. But one country’s political economy can sustain the major costs of a trade war and the other’s cannot.
It's the dying days of the American Imperium, and like the last days of older empires (Soviet, British, Imperial China, etc), not everybody realizes it's happening. I want to build up something new that's better, equitable to all, and all that jazz... I'm just worried we won't get that chance
I still think that selling tickets to the public at a reasonable price for one swing at the ballroom with a sledgehammer would be satisfying for so many, on so many levels. We could possibly clear the national debt with such projects. And help people with both anger management & mental health.
This is a comfortable bedtime story that people like David French tell themselves to avoid confronting the actual reality that Trump is as much the logical endpoint of every authoritarian thing that went unpunished under Nixon, Reagan, & GWB, as he is total repudiation of traditional conservatism.
“What Trump did is not really replace one G.O.P. ideology with another,” David French says on “The Opinions.” Instead, “he took the G.O.P. ideology that existed around 2015, nuked it from orbit, and then turned the glowing ruins into nothing but his impulses and desires.”
this is always the thing that strikes me about trump there is just absolutely nothing redeemable about him at all, on any level you wouldn’t trust him around your kid, you wouldn’t trust him around your dog, he’s just a complete black hole of ego and selfishness
this guy might be the most broadly despicable person to ever walk the earth
We probably shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that the interviewer here used to be Trump’s press secretary.
Homan: "We don't arrest people based on the color of their skin. I'm actually an equal opportunity deporter"
humiliating people for being sore losers was a really important part of society and we need to bring it back with a vengeance
it really should be a bigger story that Karen Bass enthusiastically supports the cult of Scientology

trade war with Canada is the worst because obviously Canadians are mad about it and obviously they're mad at Americans about it and they're totally right on both those things and also I am an American
The thing is, Cofnas is a white supremacist, was a white supremacist the day he was hired, and is now bringing Ghent precisely the institutional disrepute for having hired him that hundreds of students, faculty, and staff warned when he was brought in several years ago.
As usual with these "cancelled" right-wing heroes, Cofnas hasn't been fired. The university has temporarily suspended him while it investigates whether his actions violate its discrimination policy. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
