We need to very quickly understand that for journalism to survive the next few years, we have to directly support writers. If we don’t pay writers, billionaires will*. *They’ll float just enough for loyal high profile op-ed bedbugs, and feed the news cycle to biased AI.

I just finished Gideon the Ninth (I read along with the audible by Moira Quirk). Great book and great narration. Definitely going to read the next book. πŸ™‚

oftentimes I write characters that have anhedonic properties as well (it's what I relate to, & often it's hard for me to put myself in the shoes of someone not like that). But then when I'm writing those projects with these characters, I get confronted with the reality I experience

Let kids read things! The 5th grader that reads junk YA can also be the 5th grader that reads Shakespeare because no one told them they couldn't. * My weirdo parents actually would ground me from reading when I was bad as a punishment. I didn't need pizza as an incentive - I liked stories. πŸ˜†

Also things aren't binary! In 5th grade I read probably dozens of Sweet Valley Twins & Babysitters Club books (junk) but ALSO read Shakespeare of my own accord because I was so enthralled with a high school production of A Midsummer Night's Dream I saw on a field trip.
