Look, I know it's a fable & you can't DO it, but (spoilers for a book-within-a-book): I keep thinking about the Cynthia Silverton story in "The Infinite Blacktop" where her nemesis leaves her in the woods & she just lives off the land & watches the birds & doesn't have other people in her life.

The fact that it's logical to use stories & feelings to change people's minds instead of data & evidence, because more people respond to stories, is breaking my brain a bit.

I'm bookposting a lot but they have the power to change us. You can't, in general, persuade people with logic but you can often at least shift them a little with stories.

Vivid, intricately plotted dreams as proof I still have my imagination but I'm too frazzled to listen to it when I'm awake (in this one a widow was promised her dead husband back but realized whatever was pretending to be him wasn't because he was indifferent to a dog & her man had loved animals)

Trying to remember a book: it's a simple memoir (I think it may be taught in schools in Europe?) about being a young Jewish girl as the Nazis occupied her city. She had kind, hope-for-the-best parents & cool older siblings & she was the only one who survived (by being sent out to the country?)

Everyone says writers need a Social Media Presence to sell books but I've run across one coming out next year that looks like my cup of tea but I don't feel like ordering it because the author posts on here & seems rather obnoxious. Might get it out of the library, though.
