Booker: "Ghislaine Maxwell is sitting in the lowest possible confinement after giving no information that helped us get one more investigation started and has been silent, and the man responsible for that we're about to make the attorney general of the US ... this is farcical."

People over 50 control like 70% of the wealth in this country. We vote more. We hold more positions of power and cling to them until they have to carry our corpses out. There is nothing equal about any of this and we are actively harming younger and future generations. We must have age caps.

People older than me (early 50s) have trouble understanding the student loan issue. Why didn't they just go to a state school? They don't know what college costs these days. They don't know why people are freaking out about housing; they saved for a few years and made a down payment.

Frances Perkins was the patron saint of American workers and an inspiration for me during my time as labor secretary. She was the guiding light behind the creation of Social Security, the 40-hour workweek, the National Labor Relations Act, and much more.

Today's Prospect Patriot is Frances Perkins. She saw the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory go ablaze in 1911 and her life changed. "The New Deal was born that day," she said. 22 years later she'd be America's first female cabinet member. prospect.org/2026/08/04/a...

My dude, we don't need to know your "heart and mind," we just have to look at your prior actions. You've already turned CBS News into a ham-handed partisan laughingstock in land speed-record time, so we have an excellent idea what you will do with CNN.

"Unfortunately, I can't give anyone a view into my heart and mind." Why? Are you unfamiliar with them? Ellison's whole "I'm not allowed to express my specific political opinions here, but trust me" approach is transparent nonsense. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/04/o...

Well, this isn’t going to be good. We all know how this will likely go. The Supreme Court has announced that one of the first cases it will hear when its new term begins in October is a major climate change lawsuit. Boulder County, Colorado, is seeking millions of dollars from fossil fuel

"A study led by Dr Sehrish Usman at the University of Mannheim, working with European Central Bank economists, found that last summer’s heatwaves, droughts and floods hit a quarter of all EU regions, causing short-term losses of at least €43bn, with the total expected to reach €126bn by 2029."

Europe’s rivers are running dry, and the knock-on effects are disastrous | Yiannis Baboulias

Droughts that were once a century now happen every year, and the impact on wildlife, industrial output and culture itself is catastrophic, says Yiannis Baboulias, a Greek writer based in London

Whitehouse: "Today I think is a sad and embarrassing day for this committee as it looks like on a party-line vote we are going to advance out of this committee probably the most discreditable person ever to seek the office of attorney general. Let's start with the Epstein files ... "

From Stuart Greenberg: GOP Sens. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis are assholes!! If they really wanted to do the right thing, they’d use their new found power to get all the Epstein Files released before voting to advance Todd Blanche. Instead they roll over, sit up and perform on cue.

Today, for the first time in New York City history, 2,000 two year-olds received offers for FREE 2-K. A big step for those who take baby steps. A big step towards a City every New Yorker can afford.

Microsoft: $101 BILLION in profits. $12.5 BILLION in tax breaks. $176 BILLION in stock buybacks. 4,800 workers fired this week. 9,000 workers fired last year. Please don't tell me trickle-down economics works. It never did. Nothing trickles down.

📌Susan Collins is voting "no" on the repulsive Blanche because she has been given political cover by Thune. Her vote doesn't matter. This isn't a heroic decision, it is pure politics, and whether anybody wants to admit it or not it's how she has survived like a parasite in that chamber for 30 years.

Gill: All 100 senators last week passed a non-binding resolution condemning any pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell. They're simultaneously considering confirming the guy who met with her and moved her to a low-security facility as the top cop in the United States. That is so insane to me.
