Macklemore might be one of the only genuine mainstream musicians out there. I don’t know many of his songs, but he stands up for what he believes in. You can’t say that about most people. You either stand for something, or you’re nothing. Solidarity forever! #FreePalestine

I hate football, but goddamn Caleb Williams is fucking awesome. I blame all my Bulls podcasts for this, and for getting stuck at O'Hare after last year's Larry Arms WOX, when they almost beat Green Bay and the whole airport was invested in the game. The ol curse of Chicago sports!!!

If the maintenance guy said he was coming over at 3:30, at what time should I assume he’s not coming or is dead? This guy is really old and really sucks at his “job.” I have no clue whether this is his job or he does it for his friend whose sister owns our house. Anyway, this shit is annoying.

Got all of the mastered tracks back for (what is for now) the last Western States album. It took like 3 years longer than it should’ve but I am so proud of it! Not bad for recording it in a garage all by ourselves. Now to figure out if anyone wants to release it and the first single!

“Lookers” by the Menzingers was a song that when I first heard it, thought “oh shit, these guys are about to blow the fuck up!” Such a good song but it’s been almost a decade and it they’ve never topped it, unfortunately.

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

“In Dallas for the premier of '9 to 5', I had an uncanny experience, and on the plane home to Chicago I confessed it to Siskel: I had been granted a private half hour with Dolly Parton, and as we spoke I was filled with a strange ethereal grace. This was not spiritual, nor was it sexual. It was healing and comforting. Gene listened and said, "Roger, I felt the exact same thing during my interview with her." We looked at each other. What did this mean? Neither one of us ever felt that feeling again. From time to time we would refer to it in wonder.”
