It gets worse when you remember that the Strait of Hormuz was open before the war started. So we’re spending $40B and people are dying on both sides to return to the status quo from January. Everything is socialism unless it’s money for killing people in pointless forever wars.

Silicon Valley's effort to destroy democracy is the biggest story of our political moment. Beware of those who have nothing to say about it.

After The Lockview, made a little side trip down to the East End. As a sign of how little i visit Akron proper these days (I’m in Kent 2-4 times a month to grab @chessieguy83.bsky.social for Shenanigans), this is the first time I’ve seen this sign lit up since they fixed it nearly a decade ago…

The former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company headquarters in Akron, Ohio’s east end with the massive sign lit up brightly on the night of Sept. 5, 2026. The company would later move to a more modern complex across the street, which was replaced more recently with a state of the art Facility about a mile south. This structure has been repurposed as “Goodyear Hall” with shops and residences, and the second headquarters has been repurposed for other companies, notably including boilermaker Babcock and Wilcox. The Goodyear sign atop It’s former headquarters in Akron, Ohio, lit up at night. I really have to question why the US stays part of the UN when our fascist sock puppet reps in the assembly vote against literally any good or meaningful thing they try to do, no matter if it’s serious or just symbolic. Fuck this country. Accurate maps are always better and this was long overdue.

UN votes to adopt new map that makes our world look very different | CNN

The United Nations General Assembly voted on Friday to adopt a new world map that reflects countries’ true relative sizes, after African nations urged the UN to right a centuries-old wrong.

Probably the most understated statewide campaign here in Ohio this year is the Auditor’s race, which is pitting outgoing Secretary of State F. LaRose against Maple Heights mayor Annette Blackwell. Aside from being more qualified, she runs a good campaign. I emailed about a sign and two days later…

Agreed the culture of huge trucks needs to fade away. Tax the emissions. We need vehicle inspections nationally as well. People scream "muh rights" over this stuff as if no one else has a right to not die from someone else's childish, ego-driven choice The size of American half tons is a bad joke

Some of these are actually good ideas. If they actually bother to follow through and these aren’t just platitude filled hot air balloon balloons. Some of them are jokes. And all of it feels like a way to placate corporations when they need to have a sledgehammer taken to them.

These ideas are ruthlessly pragmatic and would deliver results quickly that Americans can actually feel in their lives. All could get done with the right president and a Congress that knows we need to prioritize results for working people. Read all 20 ideas: www.thirdway.org/memo/a-new-e...

Clarification: large trucks and SUVs should only be something given to certified businesses or corporations, not individuals. If an individual wants a pick up truck, they can get a Ford Maverick or the new fathom or something small and sensible like that. End the culture of big trucks.
