It gets worse when you remember that the Strait of Hormuz was open before the war started. So we’re spending $40B and people are dying on both sides to return to the status quo from January. Everything is socialism unless it’s money for killing people in pointless forever wars.

Heat, in Milan, Paris, Phoenix
"As mayors, we are confronting the same question: how do you protect millions of people when extreme heat is no longer an exceptional event, but an increasingly familiar part of summer?" Very interesting article from the mayors of Milan, Paris and Phoenix. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
This may not have happened if either Sherrod had run for governor or we’d picked a better candidate in an actual primary. I’m sure the suspect will be found to have hated her over how she (correctly) handled COVID.
BREAKING: Democratic Ohio gubernatorial candidate Dr. Amy Acton was attacked by an armed individual who lunged at her during a campaign event at the Canfield Fair near Youngstown. 1/
Reluctantly using a sticker for @amyactonoh.bsky.social because I ordered them before I realized she was a cowardly TERF. Finding a good spot for @sherrodbrownoh.bsky.social ‘s sticker was tough - this car doesn’t lend itself well to stickers like this. :/ Anyone in OH want the other Acton sticker?
The only cutting-edge these POSs should see is a guillotine.
Actually no, I just remember people who found an outlet for their paranoia and bigotry who could hide it under the labels of "homeland security" and "patriotism."
Remember when we were all going to care more about the rest of the world?
Silicon Valley's effort to destroy democracy is the biggest story of our political moment. Beware of those who have nothing to say about it.
After The Lockview, made a little side trip down to the East End. As a sign of how little i visit Akron proper these days (I’m in Kent 2-4 times a month to grab @chessieguy83.bsky.social for Shenanigans), this is the first time I’ve seen this sign lit up since they fixed it nearly a decade ago…
I really have to question why the US stays part of the UN when our fascist sock puppet reps in the assembly vote against literally any good or meaningful thing they try to do, no matter if it’s serious or just symbolic. Fuck this country. Accurate maps are always better and this was long overdue.
UN votes to adopt new map that makes our world look very different | CNN
The United Nations General Assembly voted on Friday to adopt a new world map that reflects countries’ true relative sizes, after African nations urged the UN to right a centuries-old wrong.

In honor of Uber shutting down in Nigeria this week, here’s my favorite story about Uber in Nigeria.
This should be one of the “common sense immigration reforms” in this country. The reason why it’s not a thing can only be that farmers here have fought to preserve what they de believe is their right to still practice a form of slavery. They can’t own the workers anymore but they can abuse them…
In Canada we have work visas specifically for those types of jobs.
Political leadership, especially conservatives: “tHe SOciALiSt LIBerALs nEEd tO acCEpT FaRmERs!!” Me: -watches video- …say what now, idiot Nazis? 🤨🤦🏻♂️
All these millionaire farmers knew & voted for this because they wanted tax cuts, environmental protections deregulated, & to be able to exploit their workers I expect they'll exploit the poor ppl locked up in ICE camps for pennies a day because it's a "national emergency" youtu.be/badGHJLDpP8?...
This idiot probably voted for Trump too.
Farmer complains he can’t get workers to pick peas after offering free housing & $1,400 a week. Where are the Americans who will do the work now that ICE has driven away undocumented immigrants? I guess elections have consequences. 🤷🏾♂️
I am love to share anything from CBS or their affiliates anymore, but holy shit. 28 tornados and 33 last year… has to beg the question of if Michigan is part of Tornado Alley now.
The tornado, which started about two miles northeast of Comerica Park, reached a top wind speed of 115 miles per hour and was 3.5 miles in length.
Probably the most understated statewide campaign here in Ohio this year is the Auditor’s race, which is pitting outgoing Secretary of State F. LaRose against Maple Heights mayor Annette Blackwell. Aside from being more qualified, she runs a good campaign. I emailed about a sign and two days later…

Alliance for Automotive Innovation begs Congress to stop automotive innovation
The entire US auto industry is back at it again, lobbying Congress to stifle competition and ensure that Americans remain stuck with overpriced, second-rate, highly-polluting vehicles. more…

Agreed the culture of huge trucks needs to fade away. Tax the emissions. We need vehicle inspections nationally as well. People scream "muh rights" over this stuff as if no one else has a right to not die from someone else's childish, ego-driven choice The size of American half tons is a bad joke
Well in Israel its "It's apartheid and that's good" In western discourse its "It's apartheid but ending apartheid would be worse then apartheid".
Nobody really disagrees that Israel is an apartheid state, we're just arguing about whether it's good or not.
Some of these are actually good ideas. If they actually bother to follow through and these aren’t just platitude filled hot air balloon balloons. Some of them are jokes. And all of it feels like a way to placate corporations when they need to have a sledgehammer taken to them.
These ideas are ruthlessly pragmatic and would deliver results quickly that Americans can actually feel in their lives. All could get done with the right president and a Congress that knows we need to prioritize results for working people. Read all 20 ideas: www.thirdway.org/memo/a-new-e...
Clarification: large trucks and SUVs should only be something given to certified businesses or corporations, not individuals. If an individual wants a pick up truck, they can get a Ford Maverick or the new fathom or something small and sensible like that. End the culture of big trucks.
Why do I get the sense the next one is going to be a Tornado warning 🌪️
