Republicans seem to have completely forgotten what ACTUALLY happened in the pandemic. Jan 3, 2020, Fauci learns of 44 cases of an unknown flu in China. By the end of March, there were 100,000 cases in the US and 1,700 deaths! We need an HBO prestige drama or Ken Burns treatment here.

Hey, when I searched for the Fauci diaries, I found two versions. One, directly from Paul’s office, includes redactions. Another, from the Brownstone Institute, which they say they had Claude reformat the diaries, doesn’t. Did they have an unredacted version, or did Claude fudge the contents?
Wong Kim Ark was decided in 1898 on a 6-2 split. Plessy v Ferguson, the “separate but equal” decision, was only 2 years earlier. All 6 justices who joined the Wong decision were on the Plessy court. This current court, with its 5-4 split, is WORSE on citizenship rights than the Plessy court!
The whole debate about the 14th Amendment started up again in response to Barack Obama. Birthers, having struck out in claiming he was born in Kenya hit on the nonsense claim that since his dad was a student, he wasn’t REALLY American. There’s a direct line from Orly Taitz to yesterday’s ruling!
i was walking with Ilhan Omar today and a group was chanting "fuck ice" and she joined in.
HAPPY PRIDE! FUCK ICE! FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE!
Something in my brain just broke. Paris (lat. 48.86° N) is about 143 miles NORTH of Duluth, MN (lat. 46.79° N). There are about 19 European countries that are ENTIRELY north of Duluth including Germany and the Netherlands.
Random legal/authorial question - anyone familiar with serial publication contracts or with the company Webnovel?
It’s $6.99 for the shrimp by itself, or about $13.69 as a meal. Basically the same price as a Burger King veggie whopper meal.
Kat Abughazaleh, who claims to be poor, posted yesterday about buying fast-casual shrimp twice in a day.
Apropos of nothing, remember there have been LITERAL genocides fomented on social media. Facebook was a key tool for the government in trying to ethnically cleanse the Rohingya. Oh, by the way, Elon OWNS Twitter. Where’s that “this is fine” gif? www.amnesty.org/en/latest/ne...

The magazine in the waiting room is so old that it has articles about pandemic gardening!
Elon is claiming DOGE made a real effort to contact grant recipients before cutting things at USAID. Just a reminder. They arrived at USAID on Friday or Saturday, Jan 31 or Feb 1, 2025 demanding the keys and by SUNDAY night Elon was bragging he HAD fed USAID into the woodchipper!
Zuckerberg ruined the mental health of an entire generation of teenage girls and thought, he needs to do the same to teenage boys.
The same tech bros who think AI can do law also think Elon can sue over these comments by Ro Khanna: “You know, they’re celebrating that he created 4,400 millionaires, but they don’t talk about the 4.5 million children around the world who he possibly sentenced to death by dismantling USAID.”
I recommend Tenney come and observe the elections in her own state. The “wrong place?” Her state uses an E-Pollbook system that checks in real time whether a voter is in the right precinct. elections.ny.gov/e-poll-book-...

Rep. Claudia Tenney: "There are thousands and thousands of cases of people voting in the wrong place, at the wrong time. This happens all the time. But the Democrats want to tell you it doesn't happen because you can't prove it."
Also, I will coincidentally be in DC next week presenting at a water treatment conference, so if anyone in the national parks service wants some help with this issue, I'll be around!
setting up a mediocre joke in the replies for this is how i learned pootie tang was written and directed by louis ck and i think i’ve had enough online for the day.
Unconfirmed reports that Norwegian elkhounds have also descended on the metro area

In 2024, the state of California had 13.8 million votes using their mail ballot. At the end of Election Day, they had 4.1 million uncounted. Only 235k ballots were received in the 7 day grace period. Those 4.1m ballots were more than ANY OTHER state handled in their ENTIRE CYCLE!
I mean, you have to admire the honesty and openness of these federal prosecutors vouching BY ACTUALLY USING THE WORD VOUCH That’s like the time they got Avenatti to basically recite the elements of extortion
The first grand jury proceeding in the Broadview Six case began with a *textbook example* of forbidden prosecutorial vouching. Misconduct from the start. Just incredible stuff.
Republicans’ newest conspiracy theory in the LA mayor race is that the only signatures being rejected by the automatic signature verification system are those of Pratt supporters. Problem? The signatures are on the OUTSIDE of a sealed envelope, which is only opened AFTER signature is validated!
I guess it’s too much to ask that the NYT get basic facts right before they opine on something? Late-arriving ballots are a tiny fraction of what causes CA to count so slowly. They only represent about 5% of the ballots they count after Election Day! www.nytimes.com/2026/06/10/o...

“Matt will vouch for me…” Seriously! Was she curling a mustache as she said that and cackling maniacally? The editors would have said that line was too on the nose!
AUSA Sheri Mecklenburg: "I would never ask you to charge somebody if I didn't think there was probable cause … I don't charge people unless I'm absolutely sure."
This seems like it’s going to bite them in the ass. About 2/3 of Americans will access a major societal welfare program like SNAP or unemployment insurance for 6 months in their lives. No one who has ever been even mildly exposed to those programs could think they’re “on the honor system.”
Awful.
Republicans losing their minds on Twitter that: 1) votes take a long time to count in California; and, 2) the candidate who was polling 2nd before the election might win 2nd, is SO FUNNY. They are so innumerate!
This kitty cat showed us a baby deer - you can kind of see it in the background.
The Minneapolis protesters were remarkable for how peaceful and restrained they were in the face of brutality. It’s why nearly all the charges against them haven’t held up in court. Seeking out footage to the contrary isn’t “telling the whole story.” It’s constructing a false narrative.
Wow! Old-timely artifact. IHOP just murdered me.

Chloe Cole receives $2k/month as a "senior fellow" with Do No Harm. She gets paid $5k/month per speaking engagement. She makes $200k/year doing this. It's insane just how much money is flowing through the anti-trans ecosystem. www.erininthemorning.com/p/chloe-cole...
Chloe Cole Testifies She Makes Up To $200,000 Opposing Trans Care
The detransitioner, who has been a vocal proponent of anti-trans laws and policies internationally, revealed in an Ohio court hearing that she makes significant income over her detransition.

The Senate HELP Committee is currently doing a hearing on gender affirming care for trans youth. Both Dr. Miceli and Chloe Cole are on the payroll of Do No Harm, a group funded by right wing billionaires and Leonard Leo to push white supremacist and anti-trans policies. It's theater by billionaires.
