Living with my ADHD ass is like being haunted by the world's shittiest poltergeist. (Throwing things around the room, wailing) "I HAVE LOST SOMETHING PRECIOUS TO ME AND CANNOT REST UNTIL I HAVE FOUND IT..." "Did it fall into the couch?" (Still wailing) "...I HAVE ALREADY CHECKED THERE..."

Had a sudden burst of inspiration, so I wrote out a whole-ass short story over the course of two hours, finger-typing into Google docs from bed. Satisfied, I went to my desktop to edit and... it never synced. The doc just doesn't exist. My brain when I realize I'll have to rewrite it from scratch:

A meme of the penguin Pingu, sitting on a wooden chair, wings folded and looking angry and stubborn with the caption, "Well now I'm not doing it"

I'm constantly reminded of this puff piece NPR once ran on Softbank CEO/AI investor Masayoshi Son. His biographer, in his Very British accent, portrayed a hardscrabble youth, in which his father, a Zainichi Korean, had worked as a loan shark and running pachinko parlors...

To save his sprawl from gentrification, a metavariant troll and his squatter-turned-chummer take on a high-stakes extraction job that goes sideways when the target's revealed to have goblinized. The face breaks the cardinal rule against "dealing with a dragon", and the consequences span generations.

A shitty mashup of the original poster for the movie Shrek, featuring Fiona, Shrek, Donkey, and Farquaad, leaning against a bright green S logo. The Shadowrun logo has been imposed over the title.

Y'know, I bet this would be a great lil icebreaker to slip in-between the more serious parts of your Session Zero. Describe a well known movie plot in your game's terms until somebody gets it. If nothing else, I'd wager it'd help with learning the game's terminology.

Ever wonder "Why do companies keep releasing shitty live action remakes of old animated classics?" This is why! It's not JUST to recycle old IPs for fresh cash. Live-action remakes let companies sidestep union animators by using non-union VFX artists. It's anti-union BS allll the way down.

My enby ass at a paid Pokémon fan meetup marketed to women when the organizer goes mask-off TERF and starts interrogating people re: an attendee who "looks like a dude." Noped right TF out. Posting as a note to myself not to give Starlight Cards & Co/Clefally another cent for future DC/NoVA meets.

That autistic experience of struggling to ask someone not to do some specific thing that's going to make you meltdown ... but you can't figure out how to ask without if feeling like emotional blackmail, so in the interest of being polite, you just eat the 4 hour meltdown.

It probably helped that a lot of those lawmakers are old enough to remember Korea under autocratic rule. That was 1987! They remember the massacres, protests, police/mil refusing orders that it took to democratize and refused to go back. Meanwhile the US is just waking up to its autocratic reality.

hey remember when a bunch of middle-aged drunk korean lawmakers climbed the locked gates to the national assembly to hold an emergency session after the president gave illegal orders to the military, all of which ended with said president being sentenced to prison

I hate how mfers use the phrase "dark humor" to mean "being shitty to people." The best dark comedy is gallows humor. But you can't go around saying "I'm into gallows humor" without reminding people we're the ones at the gallows.

More recently, Shadowrun's Japanese Publisher, RoleandRoll, also put out a series of "Replays" (リプレイ): which are basically TTRPG Actual Plays, transcribed and cleaned up into a sort of light novel, often with illustrations. It's taking ALL my willpower not to grab a stack of these off Mercari.

Cover art from a Shadowrun 4th Edition Replay: "Angels of the Streets" (シャドウラン 4th Edition リプレイ : "ストリートの天使たち").
The cover art shows a female ork with a gun, a troll wearing a suit, an elf mage dressed in green, and a pale girl wearing a black gothic lolita dress.

Snippets of the Shadowrun manga, created by Kazuma Saiki and published exclusively in Japan by Dragon Comics in 1996-1998. (Since English translated) I love how the street shaman is a JRPG-ey mage/healer wearing techwear, and one of the cybered up character is very Appleseed-ey.

Whenever I travel to a country where I can't speak the local language well, I imagine the narrators from Old Enough/はじめてのおつかい narrating my life. "Today's task is to take the train and buy lunch at the store." "She said hello to the clerk!" "Ah! She's not good with numbers yet!" "Oh no, don't cry!"

People keep telling me I need to watch K-Pop Demon Hunters. If I did, I'd want to drunk live-skeet it. ...problem is, I'm dry for the next few months, (or at least dry-curious, since it's just a health/diet thing.) Maybe I'll make it a reward for getting caught up on all my overdue projects. >>

One of my favorite things about this drop is that it introduces Dokkaebi, AKA Korean Goblins, into the Sixth World as playable Shadowrunners. Hopefully, they'll be an exciting option for those who've wanted more impish/goblin-like metas without the HMHVV baggage.

If you have anxious dogs, a helpful trick I learned is that playing Taiko drum music can help cover up fireworks or construction sounds. It probably won't work for everyone, but it helps my nervous little dudes get down to a manageable threshold when meds and distracting treats aren't enough.

As someone who hobby-writes for the kind of "elf games" with both, I think about this a LOT. The whole thread's worth a read, even if there are points where I disagree or think need nuance. But it underscores why we must think critically about media we create/consume, including "anti-fascist" works.

I think that there's an entire world of difference between playing elf games where you beat up vampire robot Hitler and, say, elf games where you bomb a Tesla dealership. Both objectively good, anti-fascist actions. One's terminally fake. That game text was 100% the former, 0% the latter.

I keep seeing people driving Teslas with the emblems pried off, which has the exact same energy as "Maybe if I take the swastikas off my uniform, people will just think I'm just really into Hugo Boss."

Me: Oooh, I should commission art of all my OCs! That way I can bring them to all the big TTRPG cons and show them off. (Starts filling out request) Me: ...never mind. My ideas are bad. I admire this artist too much to subject them to my terrible, terrible ideas. ^ FFS I NEED TO STOP DOING THIS.
