Zero the Jackal, which is just Infinite the Jackal without the phantom ruby who works part-time at Gay Subway on the weekends, prances about like some kind of flaming animal on the beach.

"Buddyyyyy let's make sand castlesss!!" he squeals, knees bent mid-prance, fists clutched and raised while he smiles and shouts in unabashed whimsical joy.

"Zero I love you but we're here for a bounty and you are making yourself incredibly conspicuous." replies "Buddy" from off-screen. Buddy, for context, is an AU version of Gadget the Wolf from Sonic Forces.

I'm not describing Zero enough, though.
Zero's got one of those impossible boobs-and-butt poses people normally give comic book women. He's also got bathing shorts on. They barely cover anything, and exist mostly to show the shape of his ass. This is possibly the gayest drawing I've ever done of him. His eyes are shut, with pretty eyelashes on display. His dreads flow elegantly behind him. His black shorts have hearts outlined in red.
I love him a lot.

Something a little different and personal this time around. Just something I wanted to get off my chest Happy Pride Month

Happy Pride.

If you could be anything, anyone, who would you be?

Life asks this question constantly with each decision you make, and aside from the values I hold, I have never once been able to answer with confidence.

I believed, or perhaps still believe, I'm a lesbian. It was the first label I attributed to myself that felt correct. I like women, I was born a woman, simple as that. It was only until recent that the image shattered under the pressure of a real relationship. I was too afraid, too uncertain. The ideal picture of a women loving woman relationship seems farther than ever, something I wish I could have but feel I could never attain. I do not think on sexuality very often; most times, it doesn't even occur to me. But if I want it so much, surely it must mean that's what I am, right? That achieving it is only a matter of trying harder?

Over time, I got used to the nonbinary experience, first a demigirl, then genderfluid. I feel most comfortable in a state of flux, after all. Perhaps the reason I couldn't answer who I am is because it's always changing. Where that put me on the sexuality scale didn't matter as much to me, since I could still be a lesbian despite it. I wonder, now, if it was all an excuse to avert my eyes as long as possible from the real problems of my self.

I had what felt like an epiphany, one night, that I was transmasc, and the objective for myself was not as a cool woman, but as a cute man instead. This has been the most recent of my own developments, one I still struggle to ascertain. Is it truth or just another form of running away? My experiences align pretty soundly with the trans experience; I've wanted top surgery for just about as long as I developed breasts, I tend to envy the look of men (even if the same goes for some women), and I overall feel uncomfortable in my body. Some aspects of HRT would make me happier, though the possible psychological changes frighten me. Would I be happy, even if it changes who I am, what I like, how I think and feel? Perhaps they are excuses; I already take mood altering medications like anti-depressants. It's not like the change to my mind would be irreversable and psychological change would show far before any physical change would, so why does it give me pause? What I first thought of as a lucky revelation, something that brought joy, quickly became an uncomfortable topic.

I've since become more in touch with my body, something I avoided at all costs for the greater part of my 26 years of life. I greatly detest my body, a likely cause for all my fear and uncertainty. Most of the time, I disconnect myself from it. It probably started as a form of self defence, but eventually became a bad habit, a way of life. If my body is a temple, it is abandoned, neglected, and wanting for help.

As I pondered all of what I mentioned up until now, cried for lack of a better answer, I grew tired, the mechanisms in my body begging to rest. I drifted to sleep, but not before a final thought reached my consciousness: my body is only doing what it was made to do and I have done nothing but punish it. I haven't been fair to it.

If you could be anything, who would you be? I still don't have an answer, I don't think. If I could be a beast, I would, even though that's undoubtedly beyond my power. So, for lack of a better option, I must keep searching, this time, treating myself with care. There is no other way; ignoring myself and my body won't lead to anything but an early grave. As I have learned only but a couple years ago, I don't want to die just yet.

Love is the only choice to understanding who I am and this pride month only reminds me that I am not alone, no matter where in the journey I am. I hope, perhaps next time, I can answer the questions I seek. Happy pride month. Take care of yourselves. I love you.
