UK inflation rate has fallen. Here's why the BBC will not be reporting on it for very long. 1 BBC is not politically impartial anymore. 2 active Tory party agent shaping BBC news output. 3 BBC board appointed by Boris Johnson. 4 Conservatives headquarters still influencing BBC.๐ค

#ukpolitics #labour are going to have an economic reset - yippee weโre going to have a wealth tax, a referendum to rejoin the EU and tax USA tech properly.
@ukerc.bsky.social are you doing any research on the effects of data centres on electricity prices? I assume that they increase demand pushing up prices
Richard Burgon MP A new poll shows 89% of Labour members support a Wealth Tax. Other polls show a massive 78% of the public back a 2% wealth tax on assets worth more than ยฃ10 Million. The Government should listen, drop the cuts to disability benefits and bring in a Wealth Tax instead
Celebrating that our โfriendโ is treating us slightly less shit than they are our other friends is pathetic and frankly the opposite of the strong and independent Britain we were promised after Brexit. Vibes of loser at school who stands behind the bully glad itโs not them in the cross hairs.
I was thinking that none of those numbers made sense, but holy fuck this is insane
@carladenyer.bsky.social @adrianramsay.bsky.social @sianberry.bsky.social @nataliegreenpeer.bsky.social How much will the Labour AI policy and all the data centres proposed in the UK put up electricity bills and increase fossil fuel use?
Europe (+uk), need a combined tech strategy. We cannot properly fight the USA while out lives are so entangled in USA tech. Replacing gmail, iPhones, Amazon, Netflix with home grown products is currently impossible. We need EU tech
I think itโs time for a โRobin Hood Partyโ
Britain is poverty-stricken. Many in full employment rely on food banks. Our waterways are poisoned. We are the sixth largest economy in the world. Where has all the money gone? #PecksniffsDiary reports the Muckrakers' answer. Art by @coldwarsteve.bsky.social with thanks

Do it for the workers of Britain! Reinvest the tax receipts into paying off the U.K. debt mountain to reduce the Governmentโs interest payments and have more money to spend on priorities. Increase the lower tax threshold. Reverse Brexit.
Calls for a #WealthTax are growing - and government's excuses are looking more and more feeble. This week's rally showed the energy of this movement and the breadth of support (78% of the public!) for this common sense policy. Now we keep the pressure up!
Iโm convinced the next general election could be won by the #GreenParty with offering a wealth tax, ensuring big tech like Amazon and X pay proper taxes, a new referendum on EU, eliminating student debts and means-based support for heat pumps and EVs.
The Chancellor has a clear choice: she could cut vital support to the most vulnerable, weakening our economy by inflicting austerity 2.0, or she could introduce a 2% tax for the extremely wealthy . The moral decision is clearโletโs see if she makes it.
I hope the #green MPs are being nice to Labour backbenchers, surely a couple of them are so fed up theyโll cross the floor!
#Torycorruption So this is why she wants to drop net zero policies. Another hypocrite. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

What if we all just retired on minimal income, grew vegetables, paid no taxes and refused to pay water bills. That would show the bastards.
Outrageous. Itโs the people whoโll pick up the cost.
Anyone else furious that Digital Services Tax is being considered for reduction/abandonment as part of trade 'deal' with USA to avoid tariffs? ยฃ800m per year lost if taxes on AMAZON etc are removed. I'm old enough to remember ๐ ๐ฉ noting we had no trade deficit... UK = vassal state of America ๐
Reform are a party of Cockwombles.
Amazing how little cardboard Iโm putting out for recycling having consciously uncoupled from Amazon!
For the love of God, donโt you dare share this โliberally.โ
Torsten Bell What an aggressive little apologist for cutting benefits He has no idea of what any of this is going to mean to disabled people Pathetic performance of a labour government I've said it before The New Tories #LabourTheNewTories #BenefitCuts #DisabilityCuts
Very disappointed in Labours welfare cuts. It feels like itโs 2010 again with Cameron in no.10 & Osborne in no.11 but itโs Starmer & Reeves ffs. More austerity is not what I voted for.
Look at whatโs happening now in US, citizens on the streets opposing Government. If a million people turn out for a Wealth tax, reversing Brexit or against PIP cuts theyโll have to listen.
Streeting should resign and hang his head in shame Thereโs no such thing as a free lunch & the entire NHS seems very cheap at ยฃ170k @teamlabouruk.bsky.social Shame on you

#ukpolitics I suspect the calculation is that Labour are not threatened on the left and left-leaning voters will eventually fall in line. Iโm far from convinced and Badenochโs net zero pronouncements donโt help. Green and Lib Dems are waiting.
