Dual Cdn/USian Been around. Historians Will Judge.

Damn, I am waaaaaaaaay old. I'd remembered reading about the whole General Motors and the destruction of the then existing public transportation systems - and finally located the 'origin' article. Turns out, I was subscribing to Harpers in 1981 - when the article appeared.

Yesterday's temperature topped 105° in Fresno. "Carlos" and team were working in the watermelons. "Our team is paid piece rate. The more boxes we fill the more we make. The person closest to the truck has the hardest job so we switch off. This is exhausting work." #WeFeedYou

At 2:30 pm Bakersfield CA temps had reached 101°F. That didn't stop the farm workers who are hard at work harvesting table grapes. This demanding work requires constant bending, lifting the full boxes and carefully harvesting the fruit. #WeFeedYou

"Sergio" shares, "My coworkers and I work weeding the lettuce fields. We wear sacks to carry the weeds to the the edge of the field. These sacks can weigh up to 10 pounds and cause us to have pain in our necks and backs." #WeFeedYou

I've finished re-reading _A Safeway in Arizona_ and am proceeding to re-read _Joe Boyle, King of the Klondike_. The best thing about re-reading books is that u don't have to be scared about how they may end.

At your next meal, take a second to think about the people working long hours in HOT 100° temps to put food on your table. They're not just statistics. They're real people who can't avoid the heat in an air conditioned house or office. #WeFeedYou

Max Miller released audio recordings of conversations he has with his ex wife. In one of them, she accuses him of clandestinely recording their conversations. “I have never recorded our conversations” he says, while recording their conversation. This is domestic violence. Ask me how I know.

"Miguel" is harvesting onions in Fresno County. "I took this pic at the end of my shift that began at 6pm. Sometimes we work until 2 or 3 am. This night shift is my second job as the cost of living is so expensive, one job is not enough to put food on the table." #WeFeedYou

In Gud Boy Archie news, last night he slept very well, didn't wake himself nor did he cry. The sore foot & some inactivity has left him a bit stiff, but this morning I watched him bolt thru his patio door & race to the back gate where he reprimanded someone passing by. Things seem to be improving.

"Martin" share this vid from the apple harvest in Mattawa, WA where it's supposed to reach 96° today. The harvest won't begin until late August but there is a special type of irrigation going on from above to cool the apples down and prevent them from being scorched. #WeFeedYou
