Thoroughly enchanted by the fairy tale illustrations of Danish artist Kay Nielsen, as collected in the Taschen volume 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon'. I only discovered his work recently, but I'm so glad I did. My review coming soon; purchase links in comments below 👇

While Comicon is going on in San Diego, Japan is doing its own fun thing with the summer Wonfes ( Wonder Festival ). Would you just look at this beautiful thing ( Trico from The Last Guardian ). Picture courtesy of Kishi Omori.

I wish well-paid actors would spend just one day sitting in on visual effects reviews for the movie they are starring in, then take that personal experience and knowledge in good faith* into their press junket interviews. Maybe the VFX crew would be shit on a little bit less. *this is key

A graduate of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, Ukrainian artist Mykola Kuryliuk works with acrylic on canvas, often featuring pop culture and astronaut themes. 😊 IG: @ mykolakuryliukstudio

Now writing the review for 'The Art Of Star Wars: Andor'. The book delivers both quality & quantity, packing in splendid visdev art from S1 + S2 in a big hardcover volume spanning almost 300 pages. Highly recommended. My full review coming soon; purchase link in comments section below 👇

Hey BBC, if your writers don't know how movies are made or why certain movies are successful then maybe just don't publish stories about the topic. (No, I will not link to the dumb piece.)

"This summer, practical effects have ruled:
Backrooms, Obsession - heck, even The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Michael [have limited digital trickery]. And now I'm seeing Christopher Nolan talking up The Odyssey's practical effects in the press. Compare that with Supergirl's reception, or audiences' distaste for the dismal, half-CGI Masters of the Universe. Either fully commit to computer animation, as in Toy Story 5 or Minions & Monsters, or go practical."
