I see this in my own mother and her Rummikub group, all over 72. None have protested anything, and they are out at every public meeting prepared w/ research into impacts on electric bills, environment, property values, etc. One is planned near their rural lake community, and nobody wants it.

And the places I’m seeing it! Rural West Virginia, urban Mississippi, upstate New York. It’s really something.

I’ve been screening our documentary with organizing communities in the South. So far, the organizers mention data centers first at every single event. From racial justice orgs to old school activists who don’t usually think about tech policy. This has legs.
