People don’t fake disability … they fake being well. They play through the pain. They say they’re “fine” when they’re suffering tremendously. They do this because our capitalist, ableist society demands it. Disabled people are discriminated against & told to “try harder” 🧵

Wrapping up my 13 weeks of no students, the infamous "summer off." •≈160 hours unpaid curriculum work •Fridays "out" volunteering w/ MA hub •12 day/nights Solo DaddyDuty so MamaBear can get out •3 days "off" to visit ailing grandfather •2 rec outings, totaling 10hrs •2 weeks inservice meetings

Yesterday was my last day with the MA hub and it left me *thinking and feeling*. Spend half a day delivering food to folks, saying goodbyes. Pick up home essentials for another. Randomly help a lady whose grocery-laden cart broke on the sidewalk. We, people, are so grateful when we receive help. 1/

I don't have the ability to financially support, but have been delivering for 9mo, & coordinated school patrol during the Surge. Now our hub, which has taken in so many others that shut down, is also closing (2 dozen doing the work of 100) and, despite transition plans, I worry about our families.

I haven't played a game of Magic in over a year, with everything neatly packed away. I met one of my recent grads, who <redacted life circumstamces> lost all his cards, and handed over a BCW card bin full of goodies and half my surviving decks. Y'all, the geek-out sqeals... Damn that felt good.

I've been struggling to stay connected with Magic for over a year. The Fortnite-ification of my all-consuming special interest, combined with having little/no one to play with, makes each breakneck-paced release feel hollow. FF summer into Spidey, Avatar, and 2026 schedule feels gross. 2/

This is the correct take. Everyone dogpiling with "i DiDn'T tHiNk tHe LeOpArDs WoUlD eAt My FaCe," yes, there is a vindictive satisfaction to be had when shitty people reap the whirlwind they brought upon themselves. BUT that same whirlwind is ruining far more lives than this wretched one.

I find no *joy* in Milo Yiannopoulos getting detained by ICE & facing deportation - Whilst he reaps what he sows, it means marginalized people too continue to suffer under the hateful fruits of his advocacy - But I certainly don't have a single atom of sympathy in my body for the traitorous scrote.

Headline: Milo Yiannopoulos Wanted Millions Deported. He Didn't Mean Himself.

Subheading:
"I mean bad immigrants," Yiannopoulos said in a 2016 interview with Joe Rogan. "I don't mean handsome, charming, successful, blonde-haired British immigrants."

For many people with disabilities and their families, landing in a nursing home or similar facility is a worst-case scenario. For others, a nursing home isn’t even an option because their child's care is so complex.

For families of medically fragile children, a policy change threatens the care they need at home

“We have worked so hard to keep him alive, and here we are talking about potentially having to put him into a facility, but there is no facility to keep him alive and safe.”

Ok. After a bunch of trial and error, I am watching the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee's meeting. I've written about how RFK Jr. picked tons of promoters of crank cures and anti-vaccine theories. Follow along here. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

Apparently ICE arrests are at an all-time high and I'm guessing they've managed that by decentralizing. Focus on a specific urban area, and you get a lot of targeted resistance. Anyway, helpful reminder that ICE are literally everywhere and we should all be watching out for our neighbors.

If you live in an area that has pockets of immigrants, and you think nothing is happening with ICE, you are probably wrong. I've been hearing about things happening EVERYWHERE right now.

Dollywood had a rule for "no political clothing" and Dolly explicitly made an exception for pro-marriage equality in support of the LGBT+ community. Dolly publicly came out in support of BLM in 2020. Dolly refused the presidential medal of freedom from Trump TWICE. But sure. Neutral.

"At a time when no American celebrity seems immune from the country’s many divisions, Dolly Parton was a crossover icon who stayed neutral in the culture wars while still speaking her mind," writes Zachary B. Wolf. | Analysis

When your timeline is filled with queer folks and brown/Black people singing the praises of and loudly mourning a 1940s-Tennessee-born white Boomer lady, welp. She was pretty goddamn extraordinary, you can assume.
