BREAKING NEWS: Jojos are potatoes. HoJos are hotels. Mojo is magic. Tojo was prime minister. Jogo is game in Portugese. Mojo Jojo is a monkey. JOMO is a great song by So Good. JoCo is a musician. FloJo is an olympian. JoBlo is a movie website. Dojo is a martial arts studio. Yo Joe! is a battle cry.

So this flyer appeared on our door. First, I must note the incoherence: the first 3 bullet points are directly contradicting the last 3. Whirling, whirling toward the future! But more important is the 4th bullet point. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?! Where are you keeping them??? Is that them in the picture?

A political flyer: lower taxes, less government spending, less job killing relative, keeping more seniors and families (???), in support of law enforcement, in support of emergency services and public infrastructure, water quality and environmental stewardship

At the end of the term I asked my college creative wriing students to submit anonymous thoughts on AI. No real surprises: Mood ranges from resignation to despair, capitulation from embittered erosion of standards to total, feelings of betrayal from deep to furious. 1/

From @acyn.bsky.social (posted on X) "Reporter: Do any of you have a favorite animal? Child: My favorite one is a gold snake that can move. It has gold eyes, and it has a super-duper tail… Reporter: Mr. Mamdani, the second question for you. Mamdani: Yes. It’s also the golden snake."

Deep thought: We keep hearing about how AI destroys peoples' brains and ability to reason. So who uses AI more than anyone else? The people making it. At the very least, they test it for hours a day. So we can surmise that the decisions around AI dev/deployment are the dumbest possible decisions.

Any suggestions for technology to assist in producing board game documents? I'm thinking of something to assist in repeating the same block layouts over and over with varying content, or a table of commonly used icons I can plop in as if they were text characters. Somewhere between Word and Canva.

You know what the world needs? A souls-like (mixed with about 30% Devil May Cry) where you're Wonder Woman. Lots of shield parrying, a limited-use lasso to lock guys down, bullet reflecting bracelets, hurling environmental objects and your opponents. Why is it always Batman when she's right there?

"If you accidentally used the AI website builder and wish to start over without AI, Wix does not offer a direct "turn off" option for the AI design feature once initiated." - the plot of Terminator

I get unreasonably happy each time I defeat AI in a program I use. And it feels like a battle to win. There's always an upfront option like "Disable Generative AI", but it turns out there's 7 other steps, most hidden. Well, for Adobe Acrobat, just go Menu > Disable New Acrobat Reader. Enjoy!

Chrome perma-blocked uBlock Origins ad blocker, which would make youtube unusable (AKA 'functioning as intended'). So I gave Brave a try and now I feel dumb for waiting so long. Wow, every ad everywhere is gone! Seems like something the Megacorps won't continue to allow, but I'll enjoy it for now.

I got this email (of course), and was absolutely gobsmacked to see the social security administration sending out literal propaganda. This is yet another massive red line crossed and it's all downhill from here.

Can confirm this email is authentic — and about nothing in it is true. Social Security income is still taxed. This bill does nothing to change that. It’s willful disinformation on the part of SSA. It’s a lie.
