My toddler wasn't around when my OCD involved continously checking that the doors and windows were closed, but it is not lost on me the progress I have clearly made when he asks if some particular door is "open" or "closed" (because he is learning what those words mean)

We need to start writing near-future science fiction that refers back to a period in the past known only as 'The Last Days of the Billionaires'. There'd be no obligation to explain what happened to them, just that it was historically inevitable. Let us create the expectation of world without them.

Optimist: The cup is half full Pessimist: The cup is half empty Someone with poor interoception: Am I thirsty? Wait did I drink that water already? I don't remember. I don't think I'm thirsty. Or maybe I am? When did I last have a drink of water? Then walks away from the cup.

Optimist: The cup is half full Pessimist: The cup is half empty Librarian: only resealable bottles of water are allowed in here, no cups.

Emptied my handbag (which is about 25cm long, 20cm deep). Found four deodorants, three sun cream bottles, endless unravelled thread, several loose (!) sewing needles, a tax rebate letter from 2023, a round plastic coat hanger tag labelled "FRI", and 24 pens.

Something about your toddler jumping on a trampoline in a park, repeating "boots and cats boots and cats boots and cats" while a metal water bottle and a plastic water bottle clang together as they lie on the trampoline and get jumped into the air

Assembling info for audiologist appt. Does anyone else remember the RNID x Eamonn Holmes campaign of Winter 2005/2006 when you had to phone a number and got a pre-recorded audio message from Eamonn Holmes deciding whether or not you could hear people talking over each other?

I need some help with this Arabic (?) word in this RAF navigator's 1941 diary. He writes that he was told it was a universal Arabic greeting for "Good morning" or "Good day" but I'm struggling to find something similar online. Thank you so much if anyone can help

Extract of a handwritten diary entry. The image does not show the full sentences but the words say, on the first line: "the opposite bank of the canal". On the second line: "& called [here is a word I cannot translate) which I". Third line reads: "much as good morning & good". The fourth and final line reads "I saw workmen in the fields".A word I need assistance translating or transcribing. Possibly an Arabic greeting.

The only taxidermied blue whale in the world, 1865 CE, now housed at the Natural History Museum in Sweden. The public was allowed to enter the whale up until a couple was found having sex inside it. Now the whale’s jaws are opened only for special occasions, such as Swedish election days.
