Archive TV viewer, writer, pint drinker: time you enjoy wasting is not wasted. Regular at @cathoderays.bsky.social “general excellent taste” “incredibly good company” “very nice” 📺 http://visualmutterings.com ⏪️ https://backintimefortv.co.uk

Work life and buying a house means I’ve been busier than ever this year. Today was my first in months that merely involved turning up at a time then got lead around Birmingham to sit around drinking and chatting with mates. No thinking, no proper plans. Nice diversion to the art gallery. Smashing.

Listened to true crime before bed so obviously dreamt about having to get rid of some bodies in bin liners. There was no blood or gore and I failed, realising ANPR ruled out all my disposal ideas, so turns out I’d be a terrible serial killer. Yay?

Had been really hoping there would be a Gangsters element to this year’s Square Eyes TV Festival, so I’m delighted that these couple of lovely chaps are doing one!

Insanely excited to tell you that @worldoftelly.bsky.social and I will be hosting a 50th anniversary celebration of one of TV’s most unique dramas, Philip Martin’s Gangsters, on 8 November with some amazing guests. Part of this year’s Square Eyes TV Festival in (where else?) Birmingham. Do come!

Oh wow. While this might seem like just a fun novelty, it seems to be a very good way to discover interesting films that Netflix et al would rarely shout about.

Wow! What a difference… Check this out - visit bingebuster.net It lets you walk around a virtual Blockbuster store but the shelves are filled with the latest streaming releases - select one or more platforms. It’s not only cool but also practical: select your show/film and read the synopsis:

I’ve spent almost every free bit of time over the last week stripping wallpaper, ripping out shelves, carpets and wood, and took a break on 2 evenings by going to the gym. Last night I managed to fit in an episode of Moonlighting. Tonight I took a break from woodchip to tackle anaglypta.

Uncovered this guy, who resembles me after several hours removing woodchip wallpaper from the kitchen today. Eternally grateful for the practical and moral support of a few mates, who were kept supplied with brews, bacon sarnies, cold drinks and snacks all day.

Stick figure with shocked expression on a battered wall full of nails and holes, but he is now free from the tyranny of woodchip wallpaper that has engulfed him for decades.
