Why is Britain a tinderbox? Because: 1) The climate crisis, obvs; but also - 2) *6.4 million hectares* of farmland in England & Wales is riddled with field drains - draining water from the land where it could be retaining it. Make Britain Wet Again! ahdb.org.uk/drainage

I have a microscopic patch of this planet. It’s enough. Binned off the other place. So far this looks better. The natural world rules. Don’t argue with it.
Dear @lucympowell.bsky.social You’ve put up a post about regional mayors being given more power and money in their areas. As you have replies turned off (why?!) could you tell me what will happen with areas that don’t have a regional mayor. Like Shropshire? It’s a reasonable question.
France is burning! We need to stop drilling. #StopRoseBank #StopSharonGraham
If you are a Unite member and want more climate action (not less), look out for the ballot paper which should arrive in the next couple of days. Sharon Graham has argued for more drilling in the North Sea and briefed against Ed Miliband because of his work on net zero. Time to dump Sharon!
Heat waves, wildfires and floods. Rightly we focus on carbon emissions but we can't afford to ignore the key role biodiversity also plays, "loss of biodiversity accelerates climate risks: Degraded ecosystems are more vulnerable to floods, droughts and invasive species." #environment #ClimateAction
. Why carbon emissions and biodiversity can't stay in separate silos We need to take urgent #ClimateAction right now to avoid the worst of Climate Change! Read on: theenergyst.com/why-carbon-... .

For some of us a wake up call. For others a don't look up moment.
The new Prime Minister has argued for "good growth in every postcode". That ambition should include access to nature, clean rivers, healthy green spaces and climate resilience in every single community. Read more: buff.ly/1MikkbV
So let me get this right. What was aid to developing countries is now loans? They have to pay it back? With interest? How? And when?
Interesting approach to afford cutting bus fares from £3 to £2. It's basically being done by reducing the amount spent on international development by converting £400m of climate payments to loans. Which will likely have the effect of switching who gets this money... 1/2
All of the things mentioned in this article took place in the last week of Keir Starmer’s time as PM. His work ethic is off the scale.
“Keir Starmer was busy in his final weeks. He’s unlikely to be thanked for it in the short-term, but hindsight can be a surprising thing.”
bsky.app/profile/mart... I can’t tell you how paltry this looks when handled by an expert. So read it for yourselves.

What an accolade. Someone (naming no names) with very small feet has some very big boots to fill. He’s at the buses stage. Could take a while.

The Bee Guy knows his stuff. Properly knows his stuff. Give him a follow.
It’s back!!! #theBeeAt3 Let’s do this again…because we need to know this stuff. It matters. Please #repost / #share so more people can learn about #bees. It costs nothing and might just help these wonderful endangered creatures. Thanks folks. Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more…
Still working. For Ukraine. For European unity. For our country. In a few days time he will be gone. I will never, ever forgive the traitorous idiots. They have spent two years plotting to make the country less safe.
Well done Keir ✊👍
No babies, but my son employed as a govt civil servant, then got married & mortgaged a flat. His missus is nursing at GOSH So, I'd hope this is a voluntary move. .

Great news, it’s just been announced that when the current contract ends in 2028 the Merseyrail system in Liverpool and surrounding area will be brought into public ownership. Thank you Keir Starmer for giving metro mayors to powers to do this.
Where’s the ‘small boat crossings down 40%’ in a year headlines? Well done Keir and his team.
See all those little insects that look like flies? They’re bees. Campanula bees. On my Campanula plant. They’re about 0.6cm long. Teeny tiny perfectly formed little bees.
He's allowed people to say all political parties are the same. Starmer bought stability and a serious attitude to the role, Burnham doesn't seem capable of doing the same. He could have supported Starmer instead he chose plotting.
It’s behind a paywall. Be nice if he could let the majority of the country know what his plans are. Without having to fork out money.
While worrying about UK Gov DIP defence and foreign policy, I wonder why "man of the people" Andy #Burnham chose to put what Antonia Bance MP @antoniabance.bsky.social calls his "great piece" in the Times behind a paywall and not in #Guardian or elsewhere so it'd be free to read. This is a red flag.
