Morning all, Hoping the decisions to open, close or delay are easy to make today and that all your communities are safe. Solidarity with anyone who is out shovelling or gritting. Equally, to anyone who is dealing with floods. What a way to start the spring term!

More snow coming in... Headteachers face awful decisions about whether it is safe to open the school site. Site managers complete Herculean tasks keeping paths clear and gritted and pipes unfrozen. In so many small, rural schools, those jobs are done by one and the same person.

Sending love and solidarity to the surprisingly high number of contacts who we know got the Ofsted call yesterday. It makes no sense that I can see to inspect a school in the first week of spring term but there we have it. Let's hope you get to show the best of what you do.
