What are the most accurate prepositions for where you imagine language in relation to yourself? Real question. Made of real words!

My two new favorite ways to read: 1. Upside down (because it feels the way I remember reading felt when I learned as a child) 2. Covering the page with my hands, letting my fingers reveal one word at a time, but only after I've taken a guess as to what the next word might be (best for poems)

If I were a word I would hate getting chunked.

I am honestly disturbed by the swiftness with which "trans healthcare not available to anyone under 19" is going from being regarded, rightly, as collaboration with trans genocide and a fascist federal government to "the best we can expect" even among those who damn well know better...

All of my new favorite sentences come from the Corpus of Linguistic Acceptability. To wit: "John ate his noodle quietly."

Yup, right now. What we did (and what I encourage US writers to consider) is create an LLC, join the local Chamber of Commerce, and get our insurance at their group rate, which is a lot better than what we could get on our own. Having an LLC also offers other benefits, like a liability shield.

I dread a future in which the frictional relationships between readers, writers, and language are smoothed algorithmically out of existence. It reminds me of Virginia Woolf's strange sensation in the early Nazi attacks on her country. Why would we volunteer that vanishing, that surrender?

Harriet Clark's novel, The Hill, strikes such a perfect balance between leaving open space in which a reader might think/feel, and choosing marks upon which said reader might stand. And it made me laugh aloud!

A lot to be said here. Good feedback does take a lot of time. Teachers often don't have that time. But giving feedback is also teaching and that's why in this experiment at a high school in England the teachers also read all the exams...and it took them more time. bbc.com/news/article...

For National Poetry Month I would like to invite people to go outside without a phone and notice when two things are trying to resemble each other. You don't even have to write it down.

1. In the most extreme bathroom ban moving in the nation, Idaho's House has passed a bathroom ban with a potential 5 year prison sentence for 2nd offense-using the bathroom. It even counts "offenses" of using the bathroom in other states. It now moves to the Senate.
