Good god. I don't think I've ever seen the trees outside my window bend the way they did in this storm. I'm sure they were saved by being in a Rock Creek Park copse and not street trees hanging out in the wind, literally, but probably just barely.

Well, whatever quasi-tornado just tore through my neighborhood in Northwest brought down a lot of trees and branches. That had 2012-derecho energy, for those of you who remember.

Photographer Nancy Shia has documented the movements, politicians, and people who defined Adams Morgan — and D.C. more broadly — during several of its most tumultuous decades. But "in all my time in D.C., I’ve never felt such a critical time" to resist facism, she tells @serenazets.bsky.social:

Nancy Shia's been photographing protest in DC for 50 years

One Medical just sent out a newsletter on "what to know" about cyclosporiasis and I'm sorry but WHAT is this photo? Do people just rawdog washing their lettuce in the sink like this?? Good god. My kingdom for a five-dollar colander.

A metal kitchen sink with about a dozen loose leaves of lettuce sitting on the bottom with the faucet out of frame spraying water onto them.

This is happening because I texted my Rolling Stones fangirl mom at minute 88 to turn on the game because they keep panning to Mick Jagger and “don’t worry it’s about to go into overtime so they’ll show him again” [5 seconds later…] lol

I know we’ll never have the cache of the DC Punk Archive but I should definitely make a bunch of Exposed DC buttons and stickers to giveaway at the library right? (I run into Exposed photogs every time I’m here!)

Two small decorative pins that say DC Punk Archive, one black and one whiteThe view from the back of an outdoor roof concert showing a big crowd and a fluffy green planter. The sun is low and going behind the roof of the building.

Two years from today Dragonfly will be sitting atop a rocket at the cape. With any luck weather will be green, the go no go poll will be all go and we will be on our way to Titan.
