thinking about how I wrote most of my masters thesis in Written Kitten amd imagining how that would work in this era of recording your writing process as proof against ai (cutely, I imagine)

Generally kid books get their own, lower-down shelves. Higher up areas are loosely organized as books that are mostly for looking at, or mostly words, or a mix. Plus shelves for smaller paperbacks, for beloveds, and for misc. Pretty sure this translates to how they came out of moving boxes.
Enough of the horrors and doom scrolling. Let's talk about something fun. How do you arrange your books?
I feel like this thread is developing a strong sense of what part of the library I most hang out in.
Last year I put Libby on my phone and now I read all the time. It's great. I saw a reminder that word of mouth sells books so I'm gonna talk about some of the good ones now and again. Gonna drop 'em in this thread. Starting with:
@jameyevenstar.bsky.social Hi Jamey! Will you have yard signs for your campaign? I'd like a way to visibly support you on my block.
@mitchgreen.bsky.social hey Mitch, will you have yard signs available this year? I'd like to support your campaign in a visible way
When I buy masks I get the adult small for myself, and the youth small (estimated age: 5-8) for my kids. Today I grabbed the closest mask and it turns out the youth small (5-8) actually fits me pretty well, better than the adult mask does. I fit the same mask size as some 4 year olds.
do you suppose the Ring could have been destroyed in one of those little splurty bits of lava down below instead of Frodo & Sam hauling themselves all the way to the top of Mount Doom?
Sometimes I'm so mad that there are creeps, because my children are so beautiful & I wanna shove the equivalent of wallet pictures in everyone's faces but have to remember: oh wait, there are creeps, I gotta hide this beauty away to protect it instead of projecting it from the rooftops
This is the Amnesty International report on the anti-rights groups. These anti-rights groups have immediately engaged in lawfare to bury this report. *be a shame if people kept sharing it. drive.google.com/file/d/1UggI...

Amnesty International has expressed its 'regret' over a report naming dozens of gender-critical campaign groups as 'anti-rights' organisations
one of, possibly the, toughest guy I ever knew had the fluffiest little poodley pup around and loved her dearly
guy who wears a lot of button down shirts: listen snowflake that's just how tough guys talk! sorry you're such an HRcel! actual tough guy: this is my shih tzu Princess Fluffy she has a different sweater for every day of the week and if you look at her wrong i will beat you to death with your own leg
Not my beloved children reading Pokko and the Drum, pointing and giggling and telling me "that's you! You're Pokko's mom!" (far worse things to be called out for than having my nose in a book, I'll take it)
I got to pop into Between Two Cons this past weekend - my first con! - and it was pretty cool, meeting people and chatting shop. But I keep thinking about the wholly well-meaning advice I got repeatedly re: attending cons while having kids, which I've gotten online many times before (1/10)
Challenge: make a ttrpg with all the art made on a magnadoodle
my kid got big excited to participate, ran off with paper/pens/crayons & came back with - a whole zine about unicorns. But then they spoke at length about not worrying if it was "good" or not, just feeling happiness making something, and I figured that was close enough. Point basically experienced.
Q. CAN I MAKE SOMETHING THAT’S NOT A COMIC A. that’s kind of outside of the scope of the tradition, but if you feel the drive to make something I’m not going to discourage you. Consider, at least, how whatever you’re making might also be a comic. That could be interesting
This statement is extraordinary and it makes me feel both sick to my stomach, knowing what has happened to him, and deeply sorrowful.
please read this statement written by Benjamin "Champagne" Song and share as far and wide as you can: https://prairielanddefendants.com/defendant-writings/statement-by-benjamin-champagne-song/
It is simply a net negative for you. Just don't do it. I swear to you, you will look far more professional if you just illustrate your game with your own awkward stick figure drawings than if you use AI.
Fledgling update: it has acheived new heights (the top of the fence) and has seemingly decided this is The Place To Be
update according to the wild bird rescue: not hurt, just a fledgling! It isn't flying because it hasn't figured that out yet is all, ok. Well it got a splash & some treats & hopefully our yard will be a pleasant childhood memory.

we have a maybe injured crow in our yard! It's sorta hopping, resting, decidedly not flying, and a bunch of pals are gathered above to fully freak out at us when we approach. We put out some water & dog treats in the hope that it helps but are getting too yelled at to check further.

oh yes, famous enemy of authors ... libraries
You all-- I never thought I'd see the day, but library peeps, strap in for a fight. The Author's Guild is going after us as the reason why authors are making less money. I don't think they understand who they are dealing with: www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...
my favorite family activity right now is the library+. We go to the library, make sure everyone has 1-3 things to read, then stop somewhere for lunch, or for a beer+snacks, & we all read quietly with our nibbles for a while. It's divine, I love it.
Current read / next read* *with a pile of libby holds and library books in between @aaronmfking.bsky.social
it is always so apparent which families in the neighborhood have two active parents both engaging & taking turns & supporting each other & which have a shitty dude tapping in only when strictly necessary
Bad: a squirrel died in your crawl space and is stinkin' up the place Worse: you can't find it
Just ordered a big steel garden box from tractor supply to add to our back yard & it's gonna fix me* *or at least prevent us from having to level those clay lumps there
