I can’t have been the only person to spend half an hour working out that LEGITIMATE CONCERNS is an anagram of EGOCENTRIC AILMENTS

The ancient historian reincarnated as a penguin. An apt and erudite apterydite.
You can tell it’s an El Niño year. Christmas food’s migration cycle has been disrupted, and items are arriving in the UK two months earlier than normal. They will struggle to cope with the warm weather and there’s a risk that they may not breed this year, leading to long term population decline.
There’s a useful explainer in today’s Financial Times about the danger of Iran’s hypersonic missiles, but I think the bigger risk is these London busses which apparently go at Mach 2.5.
While walking in Herefordshire, I am inspired to write a book on our architectural heritage, entitled “Britain’s hundred worst churches”
We’ve just been watching the Sheep Detectives. Very silly and lots of fun!

FFS! someone on this Heathrow express pressed the emergency alarm because she left her suitcase on the platform. And now we are stopped.
Business idea: an App that broadcasts noise-cancelling on speaker from my phone, to be used on public transport when some arse is broadcasting music on speaker from their phone.

I just misheard a security announcement at the station: “If you see something that doesn’t look right, speak to a member of staff, or Textus.” Being a classicist, just for a second I thought “Who is Textus?” It’s quite an unusual name. Perhaps he’s a Latin American?
I hope an ice-cream flavour called “Manchester Tart” is something other than I imagine it to be.
Went to Wallings Farm for an ice cream yesterday. This is two flavours (Manchester tart and Nutella cheesecake) which costs £5.40.
‘A delivery was attempted today.’ From the new Private Eye, out now.
Stabat Mater at the Royal Albert Hall last night was lots of fun. But Rossini goes straight from Mary weeping at the foot of the cross, to Mary walking in the park with Bert the chimney-sweep and dancing with the bunny rabbits. #BBCProms
This hotel room has a wardrobe so I can hang up my suit. Which is nice. Except that the hanging rail is over the wardrobe shelving. Since I’m more than 30cm tall, I can’t actually use it to hang clothes. Thanks, Radisson.
This is going to do wonders for my Scrabble scores.
Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.
It’s been quite a contrast to return from the pleasant, rolling, green scrubland of the Western Australian desert, to the hot, arid, brown wastes of South East England.
I have a joke about film: Odyssesy’s hexameter format. I won’t post it on here, ‘cos someone’ll screw up the punch line.
I didn’t make a joke about The Odyssey, that was by another guy with the same username
