The English language appears to lack a word for "bystander" if those people happen to be sitting down – I guess you COULD be a sitting bystander but it sounds a bit weird in context. I bet the Germans don't have this problem. "People nearby who aren't paying much attention while sitting down" FFS
If I didn’t know better, I’d say that someone within Google was actively sabotaging the company by enshittifying its services, or in this case deciding to stop offering something I’ve used for years and thus actively making my life more difficult, all for just £14/month
I’m afraid this is so - having duplicate folders on separate Macs synced by Dropbox is completely unreliable — I ended up having to use it as merely a way to pass things back and forth, bye Dropbox
Dropbox another product I used to love that's just fundamentally broken now, trying to sync a single PDF from one computer and put it on another, but for whatever reason it does not want to. This is not a solicitation for tech support or alternatives, they all suck ass
I’m bored of waking up and seeing a picture of a demonstrably shit golfer say the same old bollocks next to a tied back curtain by an aeroplane toilet
Not sure if this is delicious passion fruit in our garden or deadly passion poison, only one way to find out
Don’t read this list of all the candidates in the Clacton by-election and definitely don’t visit their websites, that’s my advice, I am now mildly traumatised and in some cases concerned for their mental health (I’m not talking about Farage) www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Oh, these kids. They’re wizards. The new album actually has loads of vocals on it (not reflected in this vid) and is completely gorgeous, but this will do for a YouTube drop youtu.be/jrm127z58tI?...

To add to the list of songs whose downbeat I "hear wrong" (e.g. Going Underground): THIS song, whose opening guitar riff I assumed started on a quaver upbeat and the drums kinda come in wrong? NO. Guitar riff starts on the ONE but I find it so HARD to hear it that way www.youtube.com/watch?v=twmI...

For decades now, lurking in the back of my mind, has been a song vaguely about the zodiac that I remember hearing when I was about six years old, going on about Taurus The Bull and whatnot. I’ve occasionally looked for it to no avail 1/
Simon Roper’s vids have a 1970s Open University quality to them but they’re always completely fascinating. This one’s a doozy, and it’s all kicking off in the comments youtu.be/B4hH_wAo1xc?...

Just been trying to get my head around Multiple Horse Theory, tried to get my wife involved, she doesn’t want to know
BBC Breakfast peons throwing their sombreros in their air to celebrate the death of the hated Munchetty regime, Naga fleeing with the treasury to the embassy of her steadfast ally, the USA.
Idly wondered on a morning walk how many (exact number) of people worldwide have ever turned up to a concert and been hugely disappointed because they failed to notice the words “(dj set)” in very small writing on the poster. (I failed to calculate a rough estimate)
There is something so compelling and beautiful about robot fail videos
I commend to all the LEGO Trail at Hyde Hall RHS. Top notch brickwork. The actual nature is almost as good, I’d say
A table that came in after us, ordered after us and ordered the same starter just got their starter before us.
Got up at 6.30am to attend a four year old’s birthday party which was all over by 11.30am. It was run by a young man who had been employed to run a four year old’s birthday party, and he was brilliant at it — I’ve no idea where he gets his energy from, but that might be because he’s 24 and I’m 54
The news has prompted me to address my own personal confusion between Cap Ferret (west of Bordeaux) and Cap Ferrat (south of Nice) and it’s not helped by news organisations also being confused and getting it wrong
Watching the cricket on BBC2. Isa Guha is such a great broadcaster. She should present everything. Gardeners World. Newsnight. CBeebies. Countdown. Isa Guha’s House Of Games.
this is your mission. our pedophile president needs you to hang out in the middle east while he starts the same war every day. when a missile blasts you into pieces he'll say your last words were "we must build a new ballroom in the white house" before your body is even cold. good luck soldier
Trump on fallen US troops: "All of them said very strongly, 'We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon.'"
Playing in bands to audiences of similarly old people
What's your old person trait?
I sometimes look at my Facebook memories to see what bollocks I was spouting on this day in whatever year, and today I see this, posted during a gruelling Labour leadership contest, which hasn’t aged well, has it
Brilliant. A friend of ours took her four year old shopping for school uniform - trousers, jumper, shirt, tie on a bit of elastic etc. They got back home, he tried it all on, looked in the mirror and said “mummy, why do I look like an old man”
I was just silently cursing Google introducing a big "Ask Gemini" button in the top right of the Chrome menubar, thinking how presumptuous and patronising it is to assume we want instant access to their accursed AI tool – but then I control clicked it and discovered I could remove it, so that's good
I know the football is on BUT anyway, as someone who's faintly obsessed with the boogie/funk sound of 1982 I heartily endorse this magnificent new record by Galaxians, and recommend it to anyone who likes Sharron Redd / D-Train / etc galaxians.bandcamp.com/album/feel-i...

Two shows in one day. Thanks to everyone for coming. It was a joy! My four year old son came to the first one and I could hear him shout “daddy!” which was nice. Apparently after four songs he asked mummy to take him home, which is fair enough tbh
Late train home. V tired but lovely day on the Southbank. Plus I got to meet @davidwilloughby.bsky.social and @muzicgeezer.bsky.social , though no one I spoke to turned out to be @birmingham81.bsky.social !
