Today I learned that baby cranes are called "colts" because their legs are so long and they can run around like idiots shortly after hatching. This is delightful, I enjoy knowing this.

photo of two sandhill crane colts that are about 50% leg and 50% neck and head and taking some big steppies.

Valuable lesson from successful protest movements, insurgent warfare, other asymmetric competitions: The bigger side wants a contest of force, because it has more material resources and physical capabilities. The smaller side can win if it makes the fight a contest of something else, such as ideas.

Guys, the best weapons to protect your neighbors from ICE are NOT GUNS They are CAMERAS, WHISTLES, and a well-organized RAPID RESPONSE AND NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH SYSTEM. ICE is better-armed than you'll ever be. But they like to rely on secrecy, and you can make it much harder for them to be secret.

Also, every ceiling you smash leaves a gap for what I hope is a bunch more talented autistic creators to come up behind you. I hope to be one of them, and I'll be grabbing hold of anyone else I find on my own journey. The world better prepare to be very aware of a bunch of autistics.

My unvaccinated brother died of COVID in 2021. I was about a year and a half into my epidemiology career. Healthcare staff did absolutely everything they could but they cannot cure ignorance. They cannot cure an anti-science belief and culture. Thats YOUR responsibility. Not Dr. Fauci’s.

In November 2025, I hit my head at home twice within six days. When people have concussions, many recover pretty solidly and don't experience huge disruptions to their lives. I'm not one of those people.

Honestly, this could show a lot of promise. I speak regularly with providers (mental health, ophthalmology, and GP) as well as public health professionals in both informal and care settings. Unprompted, every single one brought up reduction of intrusive craving thoughts and SUD potential. Excite!

With the promise that GLP-1 drugs, approved for diabetes and weight loss, can also treat ailments such as cancer and heart disease, the government is now exploring if they can reduce alcohol abuse among U.S. military veterans.

Spent 40 years in healthcare. The GOP has done everything it can to stop progress. HIV, the GOP refuses to give us the equipment and support we needed. All the way up to Covid. Okay MAGA tell me again about how important human life is to you? Seriously stfu. 🤬 That’s the rant for today.

61 years ago, Medicaid was signed into law. 1 year ago, the GOP gutted it to fund tax cuts for the rich. Today, 61 co-sponsors are joining together to hold the GOP accountable for closing hospitals, terminating coverage for 15 million, and raising costs for us all. #HealthcareHeist
