It’s *extremely* funny that Fetterman thinks he gets to be the senate spoiler / effective shadow Democratic president the way Lieberman was from 2009-11 and Manchin was from 21-23. Like, I know *why* he thinks that but he’s too much of an oaf and he thinks you just get this position by default

In other Michigan news, the state looks set to elect it's first transgender lawmaker. Joanna Whaley won her Democratic primary and will compete in November for a state house seat, beating a primary opponent who tried and failed to disqualify her for not running under her deadname
the el-sayed win shows yet again that centrists are now everything they always claim the left is when it comes to israel: ideologically rigid, in hock to extremists, mistaking online beefs (ie hasan) for mass politics—and toxic to the electorate.

There has been a very detectable and ugly strain of islamophobia floating around in some parts of the party for a long time, but it got bad after 2023 and worse again in 2024, largely because a group of Democrats decided that Arabs had been invented in a lab to destroy Joe Biden and Kamala Harris
People are understandably jumping all over this but it is a useful illustration of how insidiously this eugenics program got mainstreamed by drafting behind actually reasonable concerns of our profit-driven health and food system. But those ppl are not MAHA the death merchants

I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.
