Way up there, Serpents writhed and bled solar flares, and the King in Red was doing his thing, grown into a skeletal colossus in the writhing heavens, crowned with starlight, circled by planetoids of intersecting bone and crystal and coruscating lightning, yadda yadda. WICKED PROBLEMS
“The decades since the God Wars have been … chaotic. Risen serpents and fallen cities, Gods dying and coming back, spiders in the sky." WICKED PROBLEMS
The King in Red revolved to face her. “And I was just starting to have fun.” “I regret to inform you,” she said, “that your amusement is not the organizing principle of the cosmos.” “I shall take a memo. Why are you wincing?” “You’re…” She gestured, precisely. “Vast.” “Ah.” He-

I need to do a reread-for-fun of WICKED PROBLEMS. Jumping about the book to get particular quotes and damn, it's just SO good. Remains my number 1 Craft book.

Naturally, while I had plenty of time on my hands I couldn't seem to write a thing, and now that I have much less time the ideas are flowing
It is reasonable to be concerned that really smart LLMs could convince anyone to do anything they want, after all, we can all see that really really smart people have been outlandishly successful at convincing the rich and powerful to do something about climate change
I cannot stress enough how helpful it is when you like a thing that someone created (like, say, a book they wrote) & you TELL PEOPLE ABOUT IT. Word of mouth can be an incredible tool, yes, even if you don't think you're a fancy influencer with an incredible following. Your recommendations go places!
Day 1 at new job, slow start but exquisite vibes in the team.
Had a very vivid dream last night that there was an announcement party for the new Craft Sequence book. Except I couldn't go because of work. The title was shared on what looked like police tape? "Dead" was in the title, which makes sense but is also unlikely. My brain is getting desperate.
Now that I think of it - if was still the days when streamers were spraying money around like drunk horny sailors during Fleet Week, I'd be running down the rights to Max Gladstone's CRAFT SEQUENCE. A rather fabulous series of urban fantasies where Gods are real and highly litigious...
I don't know whether to thank or curse @thefienprint.bsky.social (guest co-hosting on the latest episode of @tvisgoodpod.bsky.social) for introducing me to whatever the hell CENTURY CITY was. But I now have a desperate craving for a good SF legal procedural. www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_EM...

It's always an ancient necropolis. I want something set in a newly-built necropolis.

Unpopular opinion: the best thing young people can do early in their careers is study the dark arts, compel a demon to do their work, and get ahead by conveniently being the only one who knows how to rid the office of the poltergeist they actually summoned in the first place.
Background check came through and it seems I will soon be working again. Major weight off my shoulders. Very grateful to my family for keeping me afloat these past couple of months ❤️ Working on feeling solely gratitude rather than guilt.
I am extremely proud of this first attempt. More to come for sure!

“We do a lot of restoration,” Teo said. “Where the God Wars scarred the earth, when a Deathless King’s golem manufactory infests a mountain range with demons, we step in to solve the problem.” “I’m surprised the Deathless Kings care about cleaning up after themselves.” FULL FATHOM FIVE

NEW POST: I have too much time but not enough mental energy to do anything significant so instead I renamed all the books. Have fun! I did. www.thehiddenschools.com/articles/ren...
Renaming the books — All about the Craft Sequence
Sometimes essays are serious and in-depth and speculative. Sometimes I decide to rename the books for no good reason. This is the latter.

Magic costs $3.25 a pop but if you cast 10 times in a 7 day period, the rest of the spells that week are free
You know what would be neat? If your book had a magic system, but magic... had a cost.
