(with all due respect to those for whom the analogy resonates) I am a little baffled by people who refer to their books as their 'babies.' I've literally never felt in control of my child—from pregnancy to our current chaotic toddler days—in the way that I feel control over my own work.

agree — and also, we need to interrogate the (out-dated, racist, and sexist) notion that being 'working class' means being a white guy employed in a factory. 45% of the working class are POC and ~50% are women (www.americanprogress.org/article/what...).

I think it's good to be the party for men who aren't okay with rape.
If roughing up a girlfriend and locking her in a room was a virile, authentic a rejection of “smoothgroined” “HR lady” politics, but a rape is too far, then what’s at stake is not a principled rejection of violence against women but a cynical assessment of how much violence a man can get away with.
