Back in 2021 I bought my first PC Engine. The first game I tried was R-Type and I loved it. The music on the first level is a banger. I recapped the unit and installed the jailbar fix MLCCs (C120 and C134), you can see the blobby joints on the SMDs of a younger me. 😄 #retrogaming #pcengine

In 2020 I purchased an OG Xbox on eBay, which looked quite alright, or so I thought... I opened it up and then saw the mess on the second picture. I wondered what the hell had happened to it. Then I got to work on restoring it. #retrogaming #xbox

In 2021 my ZX Spectrum +2 (grey, issue 3) stopped booting properly. Dead RAM, as it turns out. While I was in there I recapped it and the PSU, replaced the 7805 and also fixed a factory error.

Handheld MiSTer testing has gone well this week. 2 x 21700 Battery cells and life is looking around 10 to 11 hours on the PlayStation Core. The Gameboy is looking like 12 Hours. Zaparoo front end is looking really good too.

I put together a guide to making a flip switch for CRT monitors, when the game wants to be oriented the other way but you don't feel like rotating the whole heavy beast, nor do you want to reach into the hurty electric death zone to flip the plugs. It's fairly easy, and cheap!

Photo of a red switch with a silver lever at the top right of the image, with wires trailing towards the bottom left corner. There are yellow and blue braided sleeves covering some wires, and a pair of white zip ties.

A fellow gamer, Dennis, gave me this PSOne (SCPH-101) for no reason but kindness. I cherish what I'm given, so I took the recap slow: no hot air, pulled the SMD caps by iron. Then a quick test with some Gran Turismo. hitmanmcc.com/entry/psone-... #retrogaming #PlayStation #PSone #Sony

Sony PSOne (SCPH-101) Careful Recap: No Hot Air · Hitman's Museum

Sony PSOne (SCPH-101) gifted to me by @PointerFunction for no reason other than fellow gamer kindness. Took extra care with this one; no hot air on the SMDs.

Yeah, I bet this will be fun. It's not like this thing is packed full of boards with lots of MLCCs and it's not like some of them are even bodged between points at awkward angles. It seems like this might be the reason why this Wondermega doesn't read discs.

In creating the GT40 to defeat Ferrari at Le Mans, Ford inadvertently laid a bit more groundwork for the supercar species as we’ve come to know it. We drive the icon.
