I’ve started to note Instagram content personalities (in the electronic music highlight niche) are using it to generate their patter. If you know AI, you know the signs, and I’ve noted one individual called out on a whole bunch of inaccuracies. Amazing how presentation style obscures it for most.

it all just sort of makes sense, now, huh. all this shit was just generated by AI and he believed it all enough to parrot it on his podcast, and his fact checking team had to clean up after him this is a really massive blow to popular science. Everything is in question now. does he realize this?

Patriot Front, a white nationalist group that MAGA influencers have insisted is a FBI-orchestrated hoax group meant to smear conservatives, showed up in the hundreds today in DC for the 4th. Their biggest showing in a hot minute.

I've been saying this for a while: Steve Bannon has been fine-tuning this tactic for years. The fuel protest worked as a proof of concept, and they did so in advance of the EU presidency precisely so Bannon's allies could throttle the entire EU.

One of the leaders of this year's fuel protests has said talks are underway to block Dublin, an airport or Ursula von der Leyen when the EU chief visits next month. The group also wants to "stop all future carbon tax rises" by the government. www.thejournal.ie/fuel-protest...

I find a lot of music very performative. The artists don’t make those noises when they’re alone writing an email or taking out the garbage, but oh, as soon as there’s an audience, look out, that’s when the big music show starts!

NEW: Records obtained by ProPublica detail at least a dozen SpaceX investors with addresses in mainland China, Hong Kong or Russia who acquired stakes in SpaceX years ago through a middleman firm in the U.S. called Tomales Bay Capital.

Before SpaceX IPO, Investors in China Secretly Acquired Stakes

One previously unreported SpaceX investor has ties to Chinese military contractors. The information was revealed only after ProPublica went to court to obtain it.

I've been a broken record on this for three years and I'll be a broken record for as long as that fucking website exists: X is a viciously racist far-right organising platform that ONLY WORKS because a huge number of centrists, lefties and progressivs cannot stop propping it up

Elon Musk accused of fuelling unrest after Belfast knife attack

The use of social media in planning violent protests over the Belfast knife attack has drawn condemnation, with Britain's ruling Labour Party accusing Elon Musk of stoking divisions. The tech billiona...

"The future of US media is independent." Sounds sexy, but that actually sucks. Journalists are ultra vulnerable when they are flying solo. Landing big stories is harder and riskier. Cheers to those who do it (including myself, to a degree) but we're all worse off if that's the only real path ahead.

Frustrating that I have to unfollow/not follow folks back here if they follow too many shietposter accounts because of the vagaries of the Bluesky algorithm. The only way to wall off the shietposts in my feed!

tl;dr: why not take the good parts of twitter and reddit, and combine them? eg. they could beef up hashtags to make them more like subreddits. (give some actual mod powers to users running them.)

A great write-up in The Saturday Paper of a big new report from Greenpeace Australia Pacific which I led. It is heartening how seriously our warning has been taken, and how a whole bunch of stories that have come out in the days since we published just completely vindicated everything we've said :)
