There is a lengthy pro-AI screed in the latest HWA newsletter and it is . . . a mood.

I'm not sure what it is about my chosen phone font [screenshot below] that makes every # display as green, but I'm okay with it. I can't say why it feels charming rather than sinister or neutral.
I finished "A Psalm for the Wild-Built," [Monk & Robot #1] by Becky Chambers a few days ago—only 150 pages—and I have to say that was absolutely the cutest science fiction book I've ever read. The Studio Ghibli version of the book was playing in my head the entire time. 🥰
like, imagine everything you’d need for a city — power, water, waste, infrastructure — and then you get a clearer picture of just how staggeringly full of shit this is.
i would feel bad for the planner trying to figure out PM schedules for factories on the moon except i know they’re not paying anyone to do that because none of this is real

Eli Roth admits his new movie uses AI despite previously lying and saying the animation was hand drawn by him and a team of animators. If AI is so great, why do people feel compelled to lie about it? You’d think if he was proud of the results he wouldn’t have had to make up a fake story.
I am BEGGING news outlets to hire some actual experts on religion (and maybe some editors?) The world should not be forced to read headlines like this: “Lost sermon by Saint in Pope Leo-JD Vance debate found 1,600 years later”
Jesus these guys really do think everyone is as stupid and lazy as they are
Guys like this don’t realize that they are the freak
you know that money that was yours, which i illegally took from you and was ordered to return? well, when you think about it, it was really yours the whole time, but now it isn’t

whoa -- Max Miller on CNN threatens Sen. Bernie Moreno with "exposing a deeply and personal embarrassing matter" after Moreno called for his resignation
I am ace, so I really super duper cannot tell the difference between flirting and comfy friendly affection. You have to S-P-E-L-L it out or else I will automatically assume nothing sexual is happening.

Dreamt that I bought a t-shirt for the first day of classes that says “Maybe WE are the Sea Peoples” and honestly need to make this happen.
“tax immunity” isn’t a thing, blanche and the DOJ and IRS can refuse to investigate or prosecute it but future administrations will not be bound by this
FLAG: Trump gets to keep tax immunity for himself, his sons, and the Trump Organization under the new 'deal' struck by Todd Blanche. The new order also reaffirms that Trump won't have to pay any taxes he might have owed the IRS.
Huh. Disney's copyright claim in graphic form. Shirt? Legally a Disney character. No shirt? Milne character in public domain. Literally: as long as Pooh wears that shirt, the Mouse owns him... ...which makes that below-caption more than a little creepy.
In the dark bedroom, I scan the bedroom with a small flashlight—trying not to wake my beautiful sleeping husband—looking for my griffin pendant. I resign myself to another. On the Metro, I reälized I had forgotten it too. I look down sadly and there it is, right there on my chest. Good morning.
Still can’t over the fact that the president of the United States just told an entire state to pound sand after getting cyberattacked by a foreign adversary because they didn’t vote for him and it was treated like a Tuesday lol
Slept well and went out with @jasperhedgehog.bsky.social to do a large grocery run, to come home and spend the storm indoors. We watched two episodes of ST: Voyager and finished a Phoenix Wright case. Made lots of headway on my three reading books and there was ice cream. A gently carped day. 😊
a thing i find continually remarkable despite a decade of this is how many people will make deals with the devil on the assumption that the devil is never coming to collect from *them*, despite overwhelming evidence that he demands his tribute daily and on television
i mean, this is what trump demands of people; he demands that they demean and humiliate themselves as publicly as possible in his defense. what i don't understand and will never understand is why so many people with other choices agree to it.
come on down and claim your "i did donald trump favors and i got stabbed in the back for the trouble" t-shirt, gulf state oligarchs, we set up a whole supply chain and warehouse network for these things, they're always in high demand, drop shipping couldn't keep up with it
Behind the scenes, Gulf countries are frustrated with what they see as a lack of a clear strategy from the U.S. as the war drags on, subjecting their territories to frequent Iranian attacks, people familiar with the matter said.
“Whoever does business with a tyrant is That man’s slave, even if he starts out free.” ὅστις γὰρ ὡς τύραννον ἐμπορεύεται κείνου ‘στι δοῦλος, κἂν ἐλεύθερος μόλῃ. —Sophocles, Fragment 873
The thing is that agreeing to *anything* with Trump is agreeing to *everything* with Trump, whether you’re able to understand it at the time or not.
I used to casually joke that I was upset that public dollars had been spent by Prince George's County to come up with such a Damning By Faint Praise motto as "A Livable County,"—it has since thankfully been changed—but now I can at least point to private dollars being yet more ridiculously spent.
Bookstore, family cookout, nap, hours of laying on the bed w/ two fans and a/c on me with a well-attenuated blanketry, music, some Old Fashioned and starting a delightful new book while @jasperhedgehog.bsky.social games in the next room. Truly the God of Saturdays has blessed me. Maximās gratiās.

Burgum will be back on the news shows in three weeks as if this never happened
BASH: But it peeled off. Why did that happen? BURGUM: It didn't peel off. There was vandalism. There was box cutters. There have been 7 arrests. BASH: There are photographs of people cutting a 350 foot gash in the reflecting pool? BURGUM: Dana, I'm not sure why you keep questioning it
