Global citizen, economic populist, Middle Eastern-American.

Thanks. Yes, that's what I was trying to say, but took too long to get there. Our politics community is strong, and I'd love for us to expand into new communities. Science and sports have already taken off. Birding, gardening, K-pop, we're open to all (except nazis and jerks).

Whoever wins today in the Michigan Senate primary race I'm going to be glad it's over. For today. But the intra party hate/Dem civil war that's been brewing since 2016 is really nasty and portends bad things for 2028. Also, for the love of democracy, I hope we can kill Citizens United some day soon

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor

The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.

Just caught some #GH scenes on YT. CM looks roided up. Bulging veins & all. I don't even care that that and the tan don't sync up with the locked in story. I care that he portrays an awful character & makes me wish we didn't have male shirtless scenes.

If in the year of our Lord 2026 you're still blaming/hating Arabs & Muslims for Harris's loss it's an insta block. You're selfish, uncaring and ignorant. If you're extending that hate to any candidate just because they're Arab or Muslim, also an insta block. Look in the mirror & check your bigotry

Haley has support from a lot of respected Dems in Michigan. And she has raised doubts about El-Sayed's electability in the general election. But the outside money is not so much for her as against El-Sayed. It will disappear if she wins, and switch to the Republican side if she loses the primary.

I’ve rarely seen someone run through social capital the way Shannon Watts is in her opposition to Abdul El-Sayed with her Islamophobia thinly-veiled as noxious Second Wave feminism. Sad to see.

Is everyone still friends on here in the aftermath of the great Odyssey debates of 2026? If so we have done two amazing things. Had an elevated debate about the ongoing role of both critique and classical texts AND decided to agree to disagree about a movie on the internet. An angel gets its wings.

NEW: I wrote for MSNBC about how Madison Square Garden turning off their facial recognition cameras for Taylor Swift is a perfect encapsulation of our dystopian present: where the wealthy can use surveillance to consolidate power, and the rest of us live in a privately owned panopticon.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got to buy MSG's privacy. Her fans aren't so lucky.

Reports that Madison Square Garden temporarily shut off its facial recognition system for Swift’s wedding expose a glaring problem with how the elite wield and control mass surveillance.

I have this tendency to watch really dumb/bad "soothing" shows. I recently finished the last season of The Way Home and season 2 of Ransom Canyon. RC is like Yellowstone meets Virgin River, neither of which I could watch all the way through. If RC gets renewed let's see if I dive in.

I'll go one step further than Omar. Has anyone in Democratic Party leadership ever, even once, publicly reprimanded someone in their own caucus for not "listening to Arab/Muslim constituents"? Has Gottheimer ever been reprimanded? Fetterman? Did anyone ever say Cuomo needed to address Arab concerns?

Ilhan Omar
@IlhanMN
I think we should hear it directly from
@HaleyforMI
. I have never once heard her defend her Muslim or Arab constituents against these kinds of othering and I would like to at least hear it directly from her. We deserve to know that she actually cares.
