The worst possible outcome to somone just trying to get to where they needed to go. Every road fatality is one too many. Unfortunately we are still no where close to achieving #visionzero in Oxford.
A 65-year old cyclist has died after a road traffic collision on Iffley Road at 11pm yesterday. A 21-year old man has been arrested on suspicion of death causing dangerous driving. Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of a grey Volkswagen Golf.
True yesterday, true today, true tomorrow: TERFs are fascistic operators of oppression. To all trans friends and siblings who feel down today for reasons: I love you, and I will always have your back. ❤️⚧️ 🏳️⚧️
I immensely enjoyed listening to this conversation. "Liberalism is a capitalist position". Pass it on.
the West keeps going to war with countries that pose no real threat. @jasonhickel.bsky.social calls it the symptoms of capitalist imperialism. We dive into the economics of imperialism, China's rise, and ecosocialism in the latest episode of the Better Future Podcast:

Another day, another vehicle used as a weapon. Solidarity with the queer community in Berlin and everywhere, and all those traumatised by this violent act this evening.
I just want to mention that one my primary school classmates got hit by a car on her way to school, and it was absolutely traumatising for all of us. Well most for her, but it was awful, we were absolutely terrified. (Thankfully she made a full recovery but she was in hospital for several weeks!)
so ... you do ... or you don't ... want children to get to school safely? Because to me 'but people want to drive there' sounds like it's not a priority to you at all. What's the "practical solution" they propose?

The two parties have each set up their own petitions, with the Conservatives writing that: “While everyone wants children to get to school safely, that should only happen with genuine community support and practical solutions that work for residents too.”
"Vote for ME, I care even LESS about children's safety than that other guy!"
A Carterton town council election is being fought today with candidates competing with each other to oppose a School Streets scheme outside two primary schools. Conservative leader Liam Walker called it “draconian” while Reform councillor Natalie King said she was “absolutely fumming”.
listen, folks, just a heads up here, cc'ing me on emails "for my attention" is not, actually, going to catch my attention.
There’s 96 bags of poo on the moon, 96 bags of poo.
Don't know why Christopher Nolan is trending, but he better give me some good IMAX format Charlize Theron screentime tomorrow to make my trip to London worthwhile between all the men fighting. To put it in my partner's words: "I think you are gay for Charlize" - d'aaah, yeah, what else is new.
Things you can do and get out on bail: child sexual abuse. Things you can do an be denied bail: oppose a genocide with direct action.
Thames Valley Police have made a series of arrests in connection with child sexual exploitation in Oxford between 2001 and 2005. Ten men in their forties have been arrested in Oxford and other locations across England. The men have been released on bail. www.thamesvalley.police.uk/news/thames-...

what's annoying about work is that it gets in the way of doing other things I'd rather do.
erm, today's WORDLE. that's not. That's not a word.
And this monitoring station has now gone offline so we’ll never know.

Regular reminder that parking creates traffic.
Plans to reduce the number of car parking spaces in new developments around Oxford have been put on hold by Oxfordshire County Council. A consortium of land-owning colleges had objected to the new guidelines, which they said would make housing less marketable. news.oxfordshire.gov.uk/parking-stan...
We hear rumours of an imminent cheese announcement* 👀 *This is not a post about dairy.
Oxford’s Green councillors say the city should stand firm against “a manufactured moral panic which seeks to demonise the existence of trans and nonbinary people”. They are calling on the City Council to support their rights in the face of “overly simplistic approaches to sex, gender and sexuality”.
Botanical Gardens, ice cream, cinema, walk, pizza at the Medley, walk, ice cream. Every day should be Sunday.
Not beating the "Starmer in mascara" allegations any time soon, is he?
Scoop: Andy Burnham will vote FOR Shabana Mahmood's immigration crackdown in the Commons tonight. Dozens of Labour MPs had written to him urging him to water down the Immigration and Asylum Bill, warning the party is “losing progressive voters”. Story 👇 www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/andy-b...

Thames Water have been pumping out raw sewage since 4:30am this morning. When will these criminals be held accountable?
