This is something that I think produces very interesting research questions: Why are people's experiences not aligned with other economic data? I wonder if there is research literature already addressing this question and what it says (I am not an economist and would have no knowledge of this).

Inflation over the last year has been 3.5%. It’s hard to see how this sentiment can be explained by any “real” economic trend. It appears to be ambient political rhetoric about “affordability” and “grocery costs” filtering over and distorting people’s very grasp on reality.

Solidarity requires thinking of ourselves as partisans. Too many of us think of ourselves as customers. If we don't believe we are getting exactly what we want, we stay home. I think this is an individual moral failing that few of us talk about.

The best thing about Vote Blue No Matter Who is that it unloads a lot of cognitive burden. I wanted Tom Steyer to be in the Governor's race, but he's not so I'm gonna vote for Becerra. I don't follow his campaign at all: I'm voting for him because he's not a Republican.

After Tuesday’s primary this is still my take. I am glad that AES won the primary, but that is all he has done so far. The distance between between the primary and general is vast and dancing on the grace of the establishment when we need their vote in November is counterproductive

I think that this is downstream of people getting too invested in primary battles in states where they do not live. If you don’t live in Maine or Michigan, the only stakes that are truly felt by you are the online factional battles.

It’s only 8 AM and I’m already tired of takes blaming voters for going out and stating their preferences in a primary election. Getting mad at voters, hundreds of thousands of them, for voting for who they wanted and not who you think was “savvy” is foolish.

I feel like this is going to strike some people as naive, but politics is about coalition building, not about proving your ideology more ‘correct.’
