Last week I was visiting friends in Surrey. They are near Guildford. This shows how small England is - from the Hog's Back ridge the late evening sun glinted off a tower in Westminster I suppose. On penal reform: what strikes me is the attention paid by the media to victims of crime. Sure, they have a voice, and one can only imagine their pain, but they are hardly disinterested parties and one should remember this when formulating policy about early release.
