looks up and sighs, wishes she controlled the skies; for up above is where to stand to rule those who walk the land. queer as in fuck you.

On this day 3 years ago a man sent up a call for aid and his neighbors answered, giving us the greatest video of the decade. Happy Chairteenth to all who celebrate.

sometimes, not often, but sometimes i hear about other people’s (well, one other person’s) misfortunes and i’m like yeah you deserved that. long story short somebody that i used to know is having a series of pretty bad days (of his own devising). and i love to hear it.

The thing about using slop flyers for advertising is that there’s no way to visually differentiate between a lemonade stand, a BBQ joint, a car wash, and a laundromat. They all look exactly the same and from a branding perspective that’s bad, actually

When your dad dies people are great at saying “let me know if there’s *anything* I can do to help,” but then they get weird when you ask if they happen to be a necromancer.

two things 1) tim apple’s aqi is unreliable (the real time monitors at purple air show a 100+ difference) 2) oregon’s osha has rules about what protections employers must provide for employees when the AQI is bad using realtime data if this farm was in OR respirators would’ve been mandatory

"Rena" sent this from Moses Lake WA where she is weeding carrots for a non-union company. She shared: The air is bad. See my cell phone. The AQI is 166, which is unhealthy. We start at 4am. We'll work 7-8 hrs & earn minimum wage. #WeFeedYou

i’ve been as plastic free as you can reasonably be as a disabled, single parent. before i had a baby and my body fell apart i was pretty much plastic free. nothing i did in the last 20 years is enough to save the planet in a vacuum, esp when corporate overlords exist

Really interesting history/context in this feature on single-use plastics, though some suggestions for reducing in the kitchen seem either obvious or wishful thinking. Obviously reducing personal waste is good, but we gotta hold point sources accountable, not just consumers. (2 things can be true!)

someone kept ripping down my BLM sign and i was gonna get in trouble trying to keep it up. but i keep my no matter where you’re from we’re glad you’re our neighbor and over abundance of bumper sticker on display.

Two things— credit where it’s due, first. It was my wife @tekla.bsky.social who answered the door and who wound up driving the kids home. Second— the other reason we put up signs and bumper stickers is because without them, other white people are free to assume all of us secretly agree with them
