A candidate promising affordable housing has up to $250,000 invested in the world’s largest corporate landlord. Mike Rogers invested in Blackstone as it ramped up evictions and rent hikes — while its CEO poured millions into his political operation.
They are protected species. White, male, privileged, connected, wealthy. If you descend from this particular class, your crimes will be covered up or trivialised, by the same men in the media who descend from the class and the same network. (See war criminals Tony Blair, David Cameron)
