Remember as well how much doubt and misinformation they peddled at the height of the pandemic. Doubt in public health authorities, in modern medicine, in the very concept of collective action. Then remember that conservatives die sooner, controlling for background, because of medical skepticism.

reminder that marty makary still signed off on the white house vape order in a last ditch attempt to save his job. reminder that jay bhattacharya has incited and continues to incite violence against civil servants. reminder that both have violated countless federal laws with hard time attached.

Amnesty International put out a major report documenting the influence of UK based anti trans gender critical organizations and their funding. Within hours, GC groups threatened defamation lawsuits and Amnesty was forced to pull it down. Proving the point they're anti rights. Anyways, here it is.

“Elon’s USAID crash-out over the past week has been a thing to behold,” said Jeremy Konyndyk, a former top USAID official who oversaw the agency’s Ebola response in 2014-2015...“In a way, it’s helpful that Elon is doing this, because it’s putting attention back on the issue of what he did last year”

Musk took a model he used in his companies to “cut until people scream, and then when people scream, you’ve cut too far, and then you restore”, Konyndyk said. “That’s not how public funding works. Here the cost is literal human lives.”

If not for Musk, USAID would probably still exist, Konynydk said. Without him, and administrators like Pete Marocco, USAID would have taken “some huge hits”, but would have survived in some form, like other health and science agencies – “much diminished, much weaker, but still existing”, Konyndyk said.

“His personal investment in that project gave it the reach all the way up to the White House,” he added.

Elon Musk’s demolition of USAID, and the resulting suffering and death, “is going to be a defining part of his legacy, and I do wonder if that’s why he’s scrambling so hard to rewrite that history now," @jeremykonyndyk.bsky.social told me: www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

The ban for under 16s means that adults have to prove they’re adults with DIGITAL ID. Somethin they say is overturned but will become mandatory. I’m not scanning my face, uploading my passport or giving any of these platforms my bank account just so i can make posts.

I'm in my 20s. I grew up with social media. Without that and video games, I would have been so completely isolated. We should be making the world safer for kids, not trying to ban them from it.
